X-men" is a well done sci-fi action film for all action fans: especially for those who as kids dreamed of having special powers themselves. Each of the main mutant characters has a special ability and during the film I sometimes found myself thinking about which of those abilities I would choose if I were given the chance. Of course all of those special abilities are visible in the film's spectacular special effects. But the special effects were not the only thing that made watching this film fun.
I felt that with this movie and its sequels the X-Men lost everything they stood for. X-men was always about people of different ages, races, religions and differences all coming together for one united cause. The costumes are a potent aspect to that, as they dressed very different from each other, a show of individuality yet standing together. In the movie they sold out for black leather, simply because it worked for other movies and Wolverine was the sole focus which kills the entire point of the X-Men, fore they are a group. Rogue was degraded, a weak girl always in need of help from others throughout the entire set of movies. In the comics Rogue was an icon for women everywhere, strong, independent, longing for a touch yet always avoiding the risks. Cyclops, though not my favorite, he was the leader of the X-Men and over the coarse of the movies it gives the wrong idea that he's some kind of lone wolf and Wolverine is the leader.
Mystique was nude and scaly, probably on the idea that sex sells, I mean how hard is it to make a chick with just a blue skin tone in a white dress? Sabretooth was practically an extra, lacked a strong presence and psychotic phrases along with a true fearsome wilderness look, a complete lack of tension and history in this film between him and Wolverine.
Senator Kelly isn't quite the important figure from the comics. And despite everybodys feeling for Halle Berry, she is a shallow woman that could never capture the commanding presence of the character Storm, nor the compassion and deep african tone. The movies lack the deep meaningful drama of the X-men, I feel like I should quote Martin Luthor King.
I know I'm very critical, when it comes to adaptation I firmly believe in a level of respect. 1/5 stars, and I'm sure I have pissed off a fair amount of people but isn't free will great :)
If you wanna see how the X-Men should of been delivered watch the 90s animated series, its fairly mature, something for all ages.
I completely disagree they had to completely rethink how to brin ghte X-men to the big sceen they couldn't do a straight tranfer from the comic or the cartoon series (Both of which differ in certain details) While I was also dissapointed initially about what they did with Rogues charater it works within the story created for the movie.
I'm glad they didn't try to bring the cartoon or comic piece by piece on to the big screen could u imagine all that blue and yellow spandex? It would have looked awful and NOT APPEALED TO A MASS MOVIE AUDIENCE. At the end of the day that's what counts - I think bryan Singer captured the balance between the truth of the X-men and the commercial appeal brilliantly.
I also think Mystique was done in such a way so that they special effects when she changed would look better - and they do.
x-men origin -wolverine
had so many of this kind of spoofs,it had great action and hugh jackman ,otherwise everything was wrong, like they show first scene in 1845 in Canada ,and then whole movie was in recent times,(one can imagine ,so advanced technology is in today time only)not in 1930 or 1950..so,Logan's age should be 180 years, which is really a spoof it self.
An absolute must-see for all comic book fans and X-men fans around the globe. The special effects were class A, the music was just the spice to the atmosphere and the plot was awesome..plus Wolverine kicks ass so much in this movie! lol! Although the plot isn't too complicated some people may get lost along the way so you really have to pay attention. A very suspenseful film with great heroes and anti-heroes and a very tense ending :) Can't wait to watch the sequel. 9/10
it in no way stays true to the comics other then certain charecters im a fan of the comics but if you put aside the comics and just pretend its sumthing else the movie is raely good just isnt anywere true to the com ic storyline
