Deep in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia, where every man owns a gun and a moonshine still, abides living legend Jesco White, "the dancing outlaw". As a boy Jesco was in and out of reform school and the insane asylum. To keep him out of trouble, his daddy D-Ray taught him the art of mountain dancing, a frenzied version of tap dancing to wild country banjo music. After his father's death, crazy Jesco dons his father's tap shoes and takes his show on the road.
Jesco White huffs gas and does many unusual things but the events in this movie did not happen. I don't think a movie should be made about an actual person and totally fictitious events.
Here's a film your either gonna hate or totally think it's innovative.
The story is told in the first person narrative.
Filmed using grayish and black/white color tones with just a hint of real color in certain scenes.
The movie was kind of like watching a car-crash unfold. I knew what was gonna happen, but my morbid curiosity kept me from turning my head (turning it off).
If your into watching the dismal life of a mentally unstable, (gas and other solvents) huffing, drug using, drinking backwoods Redneck Hillbilly who tries to fight his Demons all through his life, tries to find religion, loves to dance and loves his Daddy.. then this is your movie.
If not.. then keep searching.
doug8it has described this movie perfectly only he left 2 things out: if you are one of the people who really like this, as i do, you will love (1) the way the music is used and (2) the actor who plays jesco, he was excellent!
will definitely watch again, great movie!!
