Bajo La Sal. A very good thriller movie, I was not expecting it to be so the least to say is that I'm highly impressed by the work of director Mario Muñoz. The story plot not quite original yet placed in very interesting surroundings and related to an unusual Mexican context. Well known actors doing a great job, except probably for the sort of stiff Haza's character. Photography and musical score are outstanding.
Very well shot, but sadly from the first sight of the killer I knew who it was. I would like it much more if this wasn`t the case.

As soon as i saw the school principal I knew it was him, call it a hunch, but his character wasn`t essential to the movie itself, and had almost no point in being in the movie, but the film makers gave him a larger background story, than what is intended for occasional side characters - which is 9 times out of 10 a direct giveaway on the culprit.
Movie surroundings, sets, light etc excellent.
Story intriguing, to me predictable.
Acting first class from all the actors.
What a good movie! I don't know why I haven't seen this before now.
Yes, it's in Spanish with English subtitles, but they are easily read. I'm not even sure words were necessary anyway. I could have watched it in silence and still have followed the story.
The plot is well done -no obvious holes.
The cinematography is exceptionally beautiful. The whole movie seemed to have such wonderful contrasts for example: the young man -the emo and the other men as anything but; the color or lack thereof and the red blood; the culture clash as well as moral extremes.
I would rate this as one of the best films I've seen this year.
The pace is slow compared to most of today's so-called thrillers. I put it about the same pace as Al Pacino and Robin Williams in Insomnia.
The slow pace allows us time to feel the emotions, pain, and reality of the characters. I do not consider it slow, but reflective.
This is a Mexican film with very clear, easy to read English sub-titles. It's a pretty good small town serial killer mystery - well worth watching.
However it is 2 hours long (not just 1 hour 33 minutes) and it is very slow.
It would have been better had it been edited down by half an hour, but it is still a good film - you just need to be patient.
Why is it every time i stray from main stream cinema..i find an interesting little gem like this! Good acting..cool story line..and well shot. Worth a watch for all you Hollywood haters out there!
