Troublemaking duo Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno, posing as their industrious alter-egos, expose the people profiting from Hurricane Katrina, the faces behind the environmental disaster in Bhopal, and other shocking events.
The great thing about this doc is the message that when good news or the right thing appears to be happening in real life, it makes ppl realize that it CAN actually happen in real life. It gives ppl the inspiration to make it happen because they know that it isent impossible.
We have been used to reading about how difficult it is to make the world a better place that we have come to actually believe that there is little hope and that WE as individuals cannot step up and actually make a change happen.
This doc was inspirational and brilliant in the sense that a lie can encourage more ppl to ask the important questions they have been ignoring for so long and to FEEL the joy of knowing that a huge step in the right direction has taken place, producing real hope, not false hope.
I had seen part of this before on H.B.O. So I decided, to finish watching it and i must say, that it is such an, eye opening experience.
These individuals had the intestinal fortutide, to stand up, for what they believed in, without fear, of repercussion or ridicule.
This is a much watch, just to see..
[SPOILER]
The shocked looks and anger, in the voices/faces of Big Oil and Big Business, the N.Y. Times newspaper hoax, should be nominateed for an Oscar.
what a great set of guys doing thier part to get things back on the right path.
some might not agree with thier ways but think about this; the way things are now, somethings gotta change.
loved the new york times thing, a friend of mine actually got one on the streets of manhattan and told me about it back then but i had no clue this was the reality. great show yes men!
This is what we want and need to have happening right now.
This documentary by far blows away MM's easy slap at Capitalism!
These guy's are superb and obviously not afraid of any recourse!
Is it cruel to promote false hope ? I can't answer that ,but bringing these few Issues back to the attention of the People has to be a good thing, a VERY good thing.
Can you imagine those headlines becoming reality..Don't Just Imagine, Make it happen!
A very good documentary.. The Yes Men take on various issues such as DOW Chemical, Exxon Mobil, the Hurricane Katrina government contracts to Haliburton.. The point of this documentary is that when it comes to man, greed usually wins out especially if theres a disaster.. 4/5..
You have to love it when the Media were like "They upset all those poor people who suffered the tragedy by lying and pulling these stunts." THEN they talked to the acual people who were like,"We loved what you did because it braught attention to whats wrong and what should be done to fix the problem!
These guys were great! Not only funney but doing a good thing! Hope they make more!
