This movie was great. I remember being so excited when it came out, as being a HUGE fan of the show. Unfortunately, this movie, I think, is what actually killed the show (it proverbially "jumped the shark", as it's called in the TV biz). Chris Carter should not have continued with the show after this movie, or at least waited until the show was over before making movies. So much of what the show was culminated with this movie, so it made the TV series moot consequently after it. It was never able to recover. I would suggest to anyone who's not seen the show before to watch the first 4 seasons (I believe) which were before this movie, then watch this movie. Do not waste your time watching any more seasons that came after it. Trust me. (Anyone who was a TRUE fan of the show, knows what I'm talking about here).
This movie, in connection with the show, I give 5 out of 5 film cans.
One of my favorite shows ever, and I really respect the writers for branching out and making this film because it gives them the opportunity to expand on one angle when they may have had to cut it short for the show.
I think "I Want to Believe" will be better because it has been 5 years in the making. Frank Spotniz and Chris Carter are meticulous and I believe they are about to really bring the Alien conspiracy genre into a respected place.
You know all of us smart people will see the movie before most. The new one I mean. And yes I do miss the show also. I guess this is a given for most, but I wish David Duchovny never left the show. He has not done much that I have seen, if you count out "The Red Shoe Diaries" and "Evolution" and some no big ones.
