Loved this film. Cross between manga and film noir..the martial arts scenes were amazing. I am watching again..My only huge criticism was the female lead..she stunk!!
"This is the story of a sad flute, a laughing baby and a weeping sword ", says the story-teller.. I enjoyed very much the film, even if overcharged with digital fx, the plot made sense, the old vs the new echoed by the dilemma sword vs bullet action fights and beautiful allegoric images. Maybe less gory and graphic violence would of made it seen by a broader audience. In genre it's western but also martial arts.. had a great time watching.
Hey, 'The Warrior's Way' is absolutely fantastic, stylish and stylised, shot in faded tones, almost as inscrutable as a Japanese Noh play! Probably hardcore martial-art movie fans will be disappointed as this isn't as full of action as your average Ninja pic, it's more of a drama and a damn good one. Beautifully staged, well written and just really unusual, I was hooked from the start. When the final showdown comes it's great action but the build-up is full of tension too.. of course the baby is the real star of the show!

I thought this was a brilliant film, one that will probably be most appreciated by people who AREN'T big Ninja film fans! One for the film-club perhaps.. Go on, Live a little.. :))
I saw this in the theater and thought it was going to be like Ninja Assassin. I was sorely mistaken. The action was good, but there wasn't enough of it. It was more of a sappy love story, and it was cornier then an Iowa farm.
this is pure entertainment..fantastic old school spaghetti western meets eastern lone sword epic, fantastic cast and great visual style

would like to see this director pick up Onimasha and see what he could do with that
edit meant to add the leader of the soldiers (the head vampire from days of darkness.??edit days of night... I thought it looked like) chewed up each scene he was in.. in fact he came close to over shadowing the main character such was his impact anytime he was on screen...pretty impressive
