ok, by the trailer I really didn't know what to expect I never saw the origonal. But I did love this I expected to like it but I loved it great acting really and the deaths have some good detail and many times horror movies get so into killing off characters story gets lost here its all balanced and I respect that a good horror movie needs a story not just plain pointless scares that aren't even scary since (*Cough* Saw, Paranormal Activity
I would have enjoyed more characterization and build up..and I really noticed the lack of that music ..until the very end
.. that signature music really gave the 82 film a punch that lacked in this one..
f they had stuck with that I believe the tension would have been ramped up greatly
I thought the effects were good but could tell the cGI which is a shame
but the acting was top notch..the end was good

The Trailer of the film "The Thing" is not inspiring as it looks to be a re-hash of the original film, without the advantage of John Carpenter!
Hollywood has gone down and down a long road with this, as it should have in my opinion made a sequel or even a prequel to what is a classical origional film!
Having just watched the film "THE THING" in DVD HQ via the great link from this web site, I am now very happy as the film is a Prequel.
O nice to see that it is a Prequel that has done a good job in staying to the format of the origional style.

The trailer scenes are virtually the same as the Carpenter's version.. Sigh.
Seems all there is to look forward to is when they turn the volume up and make you jump. Sad.
