Inspired by true events, “The Rite” follows skeptical seminary student Michael Kovak (Colin O’Donoghue), who reluctantly attends exorcism school at the Vatican. While in Rome, he meets an unorthodox priest, Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins), who introduces him to the darker side of his faith.
This movie is Catholic based. Now my comments on the movie: Wow, this movie was intense and emotional I thought. Great acting, story and special effects. 4.5/5
I like exorcism movies, and this one was better then expected. A perfect role for Anthony Hopkins, who makes the movie shine. I'm Muslim, I believe in Allah(God), the Satan exists, so as people who are possessed. A must see religious horror movie. I will give 9/10.
It was great act and the storyline was good and the sound/picture but how they put it all togheter was BORING, nothing thriller or horror but FUNNY in some parts.
OH will watch it at the movies to knight with my pal, she is also freaked out about exorict stuff and oh THIS WILL BE AMAZING its fun watching people being scared when you cant be it yourself or at least show it..
As with any possession movie, one has to think about the tragic loss of freedom over one's own personality, mind, body, and soul. This is concept that is pervasive in thought among people of all walks of life (i.e., it is a eating habit, anger issues, etc.). This is provides a superb interpretation over how both the possessed and excorcist are human beings who can quickly exchange roles--or even have those roles overlap. Therefore, it is not necessarily mutually exclusive to have one over the other--that is, to be a man of the faith and not have one's own demons with which to contend. In short, the movie reveals through its characters that it is imperative to come face-to-face with one's own darkness to enable oneself to embrace one's true light or enlightenment. 4.5/5.0 stars
I take it then that, cos it says it's based on true events, besides sexually abusing children, Catholic priests go around shouting and ranting at mentally disturbed kids as well cos anyone with half a brain knows that there's no such thing as demons..
..saying that tho, it's always good to see Tony acting crazy in films, he does a good crazy, 6.5/10
I watched this in the theater. Starts off slow but as the film progresses and you get more acquainted with the characters it becomes very interesting, graphic and frightening. Anthony Hopkins is always good and he doesn't disappoint in this, definitely worth checking out but wait for a decent link or at least one with the ending to get the full affect of the film :)) enjoy :)) for a theme thats been done to death recently (exorcisms) this film offers a refreshing new perspective
i gave up waiting to catch the full movie online so i got my ass to the cinemas and im really glad i did, anthony hopkins was as great as ever, 9/10 bravo
I really wanted to see this movie.When i went to the theater to see it I was very disappointed. The movie for me seemed very slow and I actually fell asleep because it was boring.I did wake up to see the last ten minutes which seem a little more interesting.
idk what to think of this movie frankly.. sadly, i didn't get to see the last 7 mins of the movie :\ on the other hand, i rly didn't think too highly of this film.. i mean, nothing that it could bring me to say, wow, that was a great movie.. silence of the lamb and the Hannibal collection was way more exciting than this.. i guess i could say i was greatly disappointed :(
It goes without saying that Sir Anthony Hopkins is a truly amazing actor. He has a very sinister demeanour regardless of his previous roles.
The film itself hits on a subject we are all secretly if not overtly afraid of.
Whether one is religious or not it's nigh on impossible to convince oneself 100% that there isn't more to this reality than meets the eye and therefore it's extremely difficult not to feel a real sense of fear when watching a film like this.
It's quite sickening and shocking in parts but on the whole it's very well put together.

Most cases I would accept when they say true story and all but here I just can't I belive in God and go to church and all but I just don't belive in this Devil buisness its just so beyond me God is the same way as far as I know but still I belive in God and Jesus and all that but the Devil, No.
I was actually looking forward to this movie and I actually was satisfied it didnt have so many huge jumpy moments just a few but most are accpected sadly and those just blow it.
Im Hungarian by the way and was sp surprised to hear Hungarian in the movie WOW (Szerelmem, Virágom, Gyönyörüségem,) and considering it wasnt dubbed but Anthony said those words was even more brilliant they were far from perfect way of saying the words I hardly understood at first he said it first I was like whaat he said it again by that time Im leaning forward mouth open in my seat I was like wow small world XD
I really liked the movie but real life events .. eehh
Yeah, well..it all depends how much this movie will borrow from the others in this genre. It doesn't get old if you have a movie that differs from the rest and has originality in it, and I think this one could be such a movie. The trailer looks promising. We'll see.
