Its been so long since Disney animated another masterpiece, I unfortunately set the bar really hight and was left unsatisfied. After seeing beauty and the beast I was expecting something more dramatic. This was a little too over the top for me. Too much comedy. IDK, I feel that movies like the lion king and beauty and the beast were enjoyable for both kids and adults but this one feels like it was exclusively geared towards kids ages 8-12.
There hasnt been many classic disney films receantly. Theres only been all these fancy 3d ones. All the classics like Aladdin, Cinderella and Snow white were gone. Then this came out its a classical disney movie. A pricne and a Princess some sort of love story and a problam. With good feel good music and a fantastic story with funny charaters. This is a wonderful family movie and a very nice disney classic. I would recomend it. 9/10!
The Princess and the Frog is one of the most highly anticipated films of the year. It marks Walt Disney Animation Studio's return to 2D animation, to recapture the era of amazing movies like The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast – timeless tales that have reached audiences across the world. However, unlike these previous movies, The Princess and the Frog does something new. It's an updated take on the classic fairy tale, set in Jazzy New Orleans filled with witch doctors, Maldonian princes, southern lovesick daughters, Jazz playing alligators and even Cajun fireflies! In the midst of all this jazz is Disney's first black princess, Tiana, and her story.
Im glad that disney is playing good cartoon movies like this, with good stories still.. its gotten better! if you dont like it, then dont watch it! all disney movies have all type of different magic in it no matter what kind! they make the cartoon and the story of the characters. everyone loves it, its entertaining to watch! there really isnt anything bad to it! its what you make of it and how you carry on about it that changes the mind of another! its nonsense of how horrible you think this cartoon is!
u know whats really annoying me about this movies
is the comment about the fact its a black princess
who cares if the princess is black white Asian its just a movie
I loved this movie. It has a great story and a great message. And to top it all off it has AWESOME music!! I almost didnt watch it because of all the bashing about black and white and racisim.. PATHETIC COMMENTS!! It matters not what color or race or creed or whatever the princess is the message in the story is what matters. Who cares if the princess was black, white, asian, hindu, or purple? She was green most of the movie anyway. You people look too much at the color of the cartoon characters and miss the message. I read one post saying (and I'm paraphrasing here) "This is great because black girls can finally be princesses" Bologna!! If a little black girl wants to pretend to be a princess she can all it takes is imagination and I am sure every little girl on the planet has that no matter what color her skin is. Who looks up to a cartoon as a role model anyway? Its up to the parents to encourage their children to reach for the best they can be not a cartoon character! I give this movie 10/10 and I encourage everyone who has children to watch it with them!
i am mad that the first black disney movie had to have so much black magic. all the other white movie had lighter white magic like cinderella. kind of scary with all that black witchcraft magic. wouldnt let a young child watch
What nonsense, you obviously don't remember the wicked queen in "Snow White" or "Sleeping Beauty" that sure wasn't no 'white' magic. Kids see much scarier images all the time than anything they'll encounter in this fine movie..
Hey, just wanted to apologize for rubbishing your opinion and to say I realize that you do have a point about young children.. this may well be too scary for little ones.
After I posted my last reply, I went to visit a friend and was messing with her 5yo daughter, pretending my hand was a spider.. she Freaked! I realised then that 'Shadows' such as are in this movie would be too terrifying for this kid for sure. Just cos it's Disney doesn't mean it's for all ages all the time.
Thinking about it I remembered as a child being terribly upset when Bambi's mother was killed in the film "Bambi".. I mean how fluffy was that but I had nightmares about it for ages.. Some kids will always be more sensitive than others so it's up to parents or carers to gauge what is or isn't OK for them. They'll be seeing a lot worse than "The Princess and the Frog" I'd reckon but still, I just wanted to say here that you do have a valid point 'crissygal1' when it comes to the young kids issue. Personally I loved this movie.. but then I'm now well over 10!
Apparently you have never watched The Black Culdron by Disney. You should check that one out before you go bashing this one. This is nothing compared to that one. Its on this site too.
Hey, what an amazing movie, great story and characters.. the graphics are superb and the music by Randy Newman is really good too. In fact, I'd say this is the best Disney cartoon I've seen since "The Jungle Book" and that was a LONG time ago. All the elements of this production work together to make a successful whole that is very satisfying, I shall recommend this to all my friends with or without kids as a brilliant family film. Very Sweet Moivie, Absolutely Loved It!!
wow truly amazing, probably be my best disney film ever since i'm a big,big fan of disney. they should make more films like this. and also it was kinda inspirational
It was a very good. My daugthers love it and so did I. I am happy that disney finally made a black princess and I hope that they continue to look outside the box.
It matters. It matters a lot that Disney is looking outside the box. It matters that this princess is black. Finally, black girls also can dream of being a princess. It's not racist. It's about being realistic and representing all people living in this country. It matters and millions of people care. So please stop making insensitive and unintelligent comments. I agree with you Krazy L.
I bought my daughter a black and a white barbie and she only wanted to play with the white one because she said that was the princess. all the barbies on tv were white. after she saw princess and the frog i don't see the white barbie anymore so it does matter cause now she knows the black barbie can be a princess too.
Am i the only person who noticed the that she did not start out as a real princess but became one??
And the whole Barbie thing just makes no sense really, if your daughter is white then it is only natural to relate to a white character better (same for any other race) Sometime people just feel a little more comfortable with their own color and i am really not saying that to be racist since i am not.
A good movie with great storytelling and characterization—pretty radical by Disney standards, in my opinion. Another point that I liked about this movie was that it wasn't "white" or "black," but acknowledged (in part) the diversity of New Orleans. Blacks and whites could be best friends and lovers, which is definitely something you don't see too often.
Also, I thought that the main character was spunky and fun. She is definitely someone a girl could look up to, flaws and all. The prince was incredibly annoying at first, but he quickly grew up me as his character became deeper and more genuine. It was rewarding to see the development of their romance, because it was on equal grounds with both of them learning from the other.
You can definitely see the world-building that makes Pixar such a success. The movie aptly captures a world rich with music, food, talking animals, and magic. You believe in this world and you want to live it—and Tiana is the perfect guide to take you there.
