I thought Mel Gibson done an awesome job..and the cast man this movie made me cry..they took me to a deep place n made me weep..cant get over it..to breathe life into the words of the gospel n make it a movie it was beautiful n mind blowing ..All time Favorite..i still watch it now and again n it still makes me cry..i've watched the whipping scene once..ive watch this movie thousands of times n yet i still find it difficult to watch that scene fully..
I am disgusted with the majority of the post to this film. I say this not as a christian, but as to the moral impropriety displayed. That this man Jesus existed is factual, that more people know of his existence that any other man who walked this earth is incredible. The fact he was crucified is in the books. This is not some made up story regardless of faith, or the lack of it. To compare this mans life with a modern day horror/slasher fairytale is the work of ignorance. The film itself pays no homage to faith, only to the event. Mel Gisbon attempts here to tell with historical accuracy the last day of a mans life and clarify the volumes of material which speak of this event. Just as Apacolypto, Mel utilizes a personal approach to the telling of a factual event. Frankly, I would rather watch a good war movie than this, but it is an important piece of work. 7/10
its not factual..there is absolutely no historical evidence outside of the gospels written some hundred odd years later and cherry picked out of even more gospels and narrowed to the ones we have in the bible
"The Passion of the Christ" by Mel Gibson is an everlasting look at the pain, suffering, and crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. I am personally, not a believer, but I watched it, and cried, anybody could cry to this movie. Just the thought of the pain in this movie quenches your stomach, and waters the floor of your room with tears. I give this movie, a 5/5, easily.
I agree, but one thing I must say about atheists is that I think they actually do beleive in God to begin with. I say that because if they truely don't beleive in God, then there would be no point in trying to disprove him.
I know that everyone is entilted to their own opinion, but it kind of bugs me how people have nothing but good things to say about the saw movies which is pretty much just pointless torture and then say horrible things about this movie which actualy has torture and gore for a reason.
This movie achieved the goal. Making money. Tears and other side effects are collateral. Great production, special(blood) effects, based on a true story, PG.. 6/10
Reading all those comments, I believe the best thing will be that the silence continued. He died.. .. long live.. The film is realistic? Been there, seen that? The story - same as in each roman prosecution case. You can find the real truth, and nothing but the truth, filled with realistic and accurate data in "Life of Brian".
I thought it was home alone 2 till Jesus strated getting whipped.
Oh and seeing The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift in the simalar movie sidebar was just HALARIOUS
Not a bad movie at all though, If I was christian I'm sure it would have been EPIC. "Like Whoa Jesus, Way to take one for the team. Mad props bud. WORD."
Please become christian say this prayer and mean it I'll keep it hidden since they don't allow religious remarks
Dear God I ask you to be a part of my life and to help me live by your word and find the meaning of life I understand you died on the cross for us and rose from the dead 3 days later I will follow your commands and read your word In your name I pray this Amen.
I don't belive in the Christian god nor do I have anything against people who choose to believe that he exists. I watched this movie as exactly that, a movie. This movie was sickening to my stomach and I found absolutely no value in it.I barely see this movie distinguishable from the SAW franchise. Do understand that I'm not trying to demean anyone's beliefs and I'm sure anyone can argue "You're not a true Christian so you just wouldn't get it" but I don't think that's a fair thing to say. I rate this movie as a 6/10 because the movie was inf act a GREAT production. I will admit that there are very few movies that stand up to the production quality and work that was put into this film to make it look as authentic as they could. There obviously were minor things wrong but it is after all a movie. There is one thing that absolutely appalled me about this film besides the obvious human torture is that parents actually took their children to see this movie as a lesson to them. I ask you now is this what you want your children to be subjected to? As I have come to understand is that Christ's message was of peace and humility yet you glorify his brutal torture and crucifixion and later death. I really don't see this being any different than taking your child to be traumatized by a Horror gore flick. Though this is my personal view of the matter and I am being very generalist. Thank you for reading my lowly opinion on this movie. This is not targeted to Christians but people who want a non-bias view of the film. To me it was worth the watch just to see how horrific the Romans were to early Christians and truly understand the pain they caused.
There are no words to say how I feel about this film. It makes it so much more meaningful to watch it on Good Friday. It makes me cringe and want to cry. It was so beautifully well done with the depictions and I felt that all of the artistic choices were justified, although the violence and brutality was excruciating. But it's probably the most well done and accurate depiction up to date. Mel Gibson is amazing and Jim Cavaziel did an outstanding job portraying Christ as did the other actresses/actors. Even though it's hard to watch, I would over and over again. Definitely a 10/10
This movie had so many people crying when James Caviezel who was playing as Christ got beat down, and then whipped, in the Bible it said that he was unrecognizable as being human because they beat him so bad, so this depiction did not show the true lever of beating that Christ received at the hand of the Romans at the bequest of the Jewish leaders of that time.
The only reason I did not give it a 10/10, was because they still put a white guy in as Christ, Wake-up America there are good actors and actresses that are of Jewish descent.
Religious aspect aside, this movie as a whole was ok, 5/10. Religiously, however, my problem with the movie and others like it is this: You'll often hear those of the Christian faith claiming that this movie will change both one's life and faith in God's son Jesus Christ. If that is indeed the case, then for the sake of a non-threating and constitutionally rightful debate, the FIRST PART of the film "Zeitgeist: Addendum" also deserves the chance to change one's life...if one would but only open their mind.
We all need forgiveness bro. :)
I'm not perfect. I have sinned. But God is able to forgive you of your sins through Jesus Christ. Through Him you have salvation. Just come to Him, seek after Him and you will find Him.
i cried too. it made it so much more real. cause you know what happened to him but to see it. oh I could barely handle it. i saw it in the theater the day it came out and when it was over the whole crowd in the theater stood up and clapped.
well it was a good movie i don't care enough to get into a religous argument but neways 4/5 simply to the the epic waiting periods and over performed beatings + I had no idea what was being said and the ---- subtitles did very little justice.
A very good film. I think that it inaugurated a way of doing movies, taking the viewer to a more complete sensorial experience. Care for details of the historic reality culture and space of the 1th.C. Very good.
