A lot of negative comments! I remember watching ''White Noise'' in the theatre and I was so scared I was thinking of leaving. Few years later I saw ''Paranormal Activity'' which also scared the ** out of me, just like ''The Blair Witch Project''. I dont like ghost-movies where they overreact. Like ''1408'', (John Cusack was great) but it was too much for me. It wasn believable for me anymore. This movie was. It was a different kind of movie when I was watching and knew why the documentairy was actually made and [SPOILER] all the tricks he used to proove that its all in our heads. . This movie for me was very believable, and therefore it scared me (and I dont even believe in ghosts ^^).
There was one thing that I didnt get. I am not naive. If I dont see a ghost, I dont believe in them and when I would see one, I probably think Im the one who's getting crazy instead of thinking I have a special gift. But...[SPOILER] When I see someone doing that with her back and neck, no way I would think it's fake.
In my opinion a great horror movie and I think that if you liked ''Paranormal Activity'' or ''The Blair Witch Project'' you'll like this too.

I was surprised to see Eli Roth in the film credits..The ending totally let this movie down. I was actually enjoying it during the first part.
I am getting tired of seeing the bs words "based on a true story" whenever a movie has been filmed with a hand held cam. Do the producers honestly think people believe that statement?
It wasn't scary at all but it was semi entertaining in the beginning.

The Reverend Cotton Marcus had performed more exorcisms than he could remember before he visited the Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer. That would be a day he wouldn't soon forget. The last person Lious Sweetzer ever thought he would invite to his farm was an exorcist. But his young daughter Nell had been acting so strange. He could think of no other explanation for her behavior than possession by demons. But many long years of attending to those with questionable spiritual infestations has left Cotton a broken man. The faith he once proudly held up as a sheild against evil had deserted him long ago. This day has brought Reverend Marcus to the Sweetzers farm where he plans to film a documentary of what he hopes to be his final exorcism. All of his past experience could not begin to prepare him for the terror that lay within. But upon arriving at the already blood drenched family farm, it was soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he would encounter there. The Reverend must call upon a near-empty well of faith to protect Nell, his film crew and ultimately himself.
The film is poor in all regards

as a horror fan i was really looking forward to this one.i mean the trailers made it look great.it wasn't even the way it was filmed(blair witch +paranormal activity where at least scary in parts,i suppose)but this film just sucked.a massive well done to the promoters they actually marketed it very well.i usually rate a film with by thinking, would i watch it again?well in this case my answer would be-only if i was possessed!

Sure, it's been done before with the likes of Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity.
But lack of originality aside, this Mockumentary was actually thoroughly entertaining and extremely sinister.
It didn't need tons of over the top CGI special effects and bikini-clad young women to sell it.
The subject material, the location and the acting is what made this one of the better recent horror films.
I thought the ending was a great climax. . . Despite leaving me wanting more.
9/10 for me.

Quite different storyline yet in 'documenting the case' format following the road of The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity, handheld camera taste, movie made sense though building constantly the doubt on expecting things to be explained. Worth one watch.

Emily Rose was also extremely frightening, during filming the barn scene the cameraman ran out of the barn when the actess was acting possessed, he said it scared him so very much that her eyes actually had changed and the way she was able to contort her body that way terrified him so he ran the heck away from her..
