Very riveting monster film, with clever and realistic CGI. The technical team did a maagnificent job in bringing the creature to life i.e the movements, CGI etc. Great storyline and stong characterisations to boot.
I've been wanting to watch this Korean creature-feature for a long time and I wasn't disappointed.
The Host has it all: An awesomely designed monster, great suspense, beautiful cinematography, tasteful music, well-drawn characters, a nice blend of comedy and drama, etc.
Obviously from the comments below some people will look down their nose at anything not produced in Hollywood. Don't believe the naysayers and check out The Host for yourself.
finally watched this after continually seeing it on the similar movie list. the english dub is to die for lol literally, acting is ridiculous- those two combined its just painful to watch, yet funny at the same time lol. the creature and its movements were well done tho not much complains there.. but
what pissed me off the most is the ending mainly the death of the lil girl, why the heck did she die and the lil boy survive
that spoiled it for me. This movie is beyond weird but worth a watch. 2/5
I Was pleasantly surprised with how much i liked this movie. not prejudiced but most korean films ive seen i could have swallowed movie film and crapped better flicks but this was pretty good actually. 4/5
badass monster/cgi.. i'm liking it! pretty good story/plot too! even better! wait, do i detect some sort of political undertone here?!?! oh, no! it's CULTURE SHOoCcKk! ahh, culture shock. ruined it. from 4/5 to 2/5 just like that.
if spielberg would have produced this movie, it coulda been a blockbuster.
BTW, what is the deal with all the crosseyed looks. i see it a lot in asian media. looks really unnatural when a jewish guy does it, though; or is it just me?
