Great cast, good action, but at the finish just another cops and robbers movie. I had the feeling that this movie was made from a punch list.Let's see, we need a good cop that is really a bad cop and we need a bad cop that is really a good cop. Maybe we can get Jack to play the really bad guy. Oh, yeah, we need a love interest. And, I know, lets have lots of shooting and blood to get everyone excited.. This film just doesn't compare to Die Hard. Worth a watch of a hot Sunday afternoon when the fish aren't biting. 3/5
"The Departed" is right up there. I can't think of any other movie besides "Pulp Fiction" that had me glued to the screen like "The Departed". It has a great plot with fantastic acting. If you can get over Leonardo Dicaprio playing his type of role then you will at least like the movie a little bit. I know its hard to imagine him doing this type of role, but he really has evolved as an actor over the years. GO SEE THIS MOVIE. I'm not one of those guys that is going to get all technical. But this movie is real with real conflicts(especially Dicaprio). Marky Mark, Nicholson, Damon, Sheen, even Alec Baldwin played their parts well. Simply one of the best.

But what was in the envelope at the end that Leonardo gave the doctor?? It never said??.. Any ideas? Did I miss that moment of the opening of it??
Wow` 5 stars for this piece of work, and its been on here this whole time and Ive just now managed to watch this great movie bah!! This is great f-in movie!! One of the good ones too~ Forget how Mark talks in this, him Leonardo, and Jack were great!!

I found it really annoying they used the f word so much in this film(probably like 30+ times), but it was pretty good. I wish they would have explained some things a bit more

, but the reason this is great is because it is so unique. There are not many movies like this and it is definitely worth watching.
The Hong Kong original, Infernal Affairs, was quite good as well, and some scenes are very similar, but The Departed deals a LOT more with emotions, and I like that.
It's not a ripoff, it's a REMAKE, and the adapted script was excellent.
Great all-star cast. DiCaprio did a great job. Plot was very good. It really kept you guessing which is great for movies. Most are just too predictable. The ending was something I would have never thought would happen. Great movie. Go watch it now if you haven't already!
A rare example of a remake being far batter than the original, although in this version Nicholson's character is based on Boston gangster James J. Bulger who is still at large and to this day on the FBI's 10 most wanted list...
y does everyone say great script well written this film is a copy of infernal affairs which is way better then this. all Martin Scorseses done put a few f words in and some music. Martin Scorsese has jus done a copy and i cant believe hollywoods so retarded to know it

Does anyone have ANY idea what was in the envelope that DiCaprio gave Damon's girlfriend at the end of the movie. Also why do you think Wahlberg killed Damon at the end?
I've heard there is a going to be a sequal.. I HOPE it's actually a good sequal and I hope it answers all of my questions.
I am pretty sure it was the proof that he said he had that the matt damon guy was the rat. The letter must have also told her to give the proof to the mark walberg guy because he was the only good one left that knew he was undercover.
Excellent movie. It was so damn good that the 150min movie didnt seem long at all. It seemed short instead! So wonderfull cast, man even the producer was Brad Pitt! Cat chasing mouse but mouse had a cat rat and the cat had a mouse rat! ha!
Anyone who doubts this movie may suck should not think that and just go ahead and watch it. No dissapointments Guaranteed! 4.5/5
