Will and Jake Grimm are travelling con-artists who encounter a genuine fairy-tale curse which requires genuine courage instead of their usual bogus exorcisms.
Has Terry Gilliam's directorial stamp all over it. It has a darkness like the Grimm brothers' fairy tales and weaves many of them together - after a fashion- in this film.
The main criticism would be the forced humour which comes across as childish rather than childlike.
A pity because it tends to spoil what otherwise is a good romp of a yarn.

This is a pretty tough movie to rate. On one hand, I'd like to complement the cgi, which was pretty good. On the other hand, I'd like to stomp the direction and scripting. The continuous humor was trite, in bad taste and ultimately out-of-place. It would be unfair to give this movie more than a 2/5 rating.
A really good movie! The original fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm were fairly violent, dark and quite frankly gave me nightmares, this is a great adaptation. Equally as dark and with some spooky moments.

Well acted, great SFX, good plot, some plot twists, a dash of romance, all in all a delightful film.
This movie was better then i thought it would be.. Decent storyline,, good cast.. makeup fx and special fx was decent.. Good fantasy,, adventure movie.. Gave this movie 8/10.. Enjoy!!
I love the tongue in cheek take on the world of Faery Tales which the Grimm's created. Having written Sleeping Beauty, Rumplestiltskin, Snow White, Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, The Golden Goose, amoung hundreds of others they were true genius!
I vaguely remembered watching this the 1st time. Before I saw it I thought it was more a kids movie and didn't realize how good the effects were - a bit too scary for the younger ones maybe. But the movie is a great one, and worth watching more than once
Definitely an awesome film, watched it a few nights ago on late at night. The special effects were cool, the comedy reminded me a bit of Monty Python sketches, but Terry Gilliam DID direct the film. Monica Bellucci as the Queen was a fantastic choice because she's so lovely but can play evil soo good.
i have to say this movie is great and would love to see its sequel. fairy tale classic and monica bellucci did fine with her small role yet her presence is felt.
