Good, solid acting from Jodie Foster and Terence Howard in a good investigative cop story with a difference.
Movie exploration of vigilantism is no new thing from Death Wish on up and in that sense there is nothing new here except the gender of the nemesis.
I can't help feeling that those who see this film as showing vigilantism as a credible answer are missing the point. As the main character says at the end,
[SPOILER]
"There is no going back, to that other person, that other place. This thing, this stranger .. she is all you are now".
The Brave One was an awesome flick. You look at our courts today and you have to wonder about justice. seems to me if you have the cash you can get away with anything, though your lawyers might be busy for a year or so. On the other hand how often do you cheer for the vigilante bad guy while he balances the scales..
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.Jodie foster surprised me completely with an amazing performance that did not annoy me.A definate must see and being added to my list for sure.
This film started off very well; however it is about 30 minutes to long!
It’s a pity that the film slowed down and lost its appeal to me!

Gritty, realistic film that deliver's the storyline well without going over the top. I've never been a fan of Jodie Foster, but I have to admit that she did a great job here and I was suprised and impressed with her performance. This film is paced to keep your interest from start to finish. A must see. 8.5/10.

She can play a role like no other - she stands with a few like Merryl Streep etc
A great story which is very real for too many soles out there
in cities big and small. I cannot conceive a feeling of constant fear.
What is justice? An eye for an eye? Or only for the rich and strong?
Do yourself a big favor and watch this film. 10++/10

I don't know what happened but it wasn't 'The Brave One'.
Terrance Howard and Jodie Foster make this a beautiful movie.
Cherishing the sanctity of life opposed to all the brutality of those who never know what it is makes a moving tableau for the theme of loss/revenge/redemption.
I don't know how I missed this one.
I WILL watch it again.
wow i really like her acting in this one, very emotional, gut wrenching. jodi really show her skills in this one. great story, and mister howard good as always.
This movies was a cool flick about a chick that had to have her revenge.
It was an ok story line for the most part. Nothing original..but it was cool because they turned a simple woman into a monster!
This is a modern day Death Wish except instead of Charles Bronson they have Jodie Foster in a movie about getting revenge and getting even.. Very well done.. 4/5...
This is one of my favorite movies. It's so beautiful and thematically brilliant. Plus it's got action, suspense, and Jodie Foster. That's got to add up to amazing.
Really enjoyed this one.
Jodie Foster at her usual best.
Starts off quite tragic, rolls along at a slow but comfortable pace with plenty of heart-racing moments along the way and finally arrives at a climactic ending.
Excellent screenplay, superb acting, intriguing story, noble script.
Like a modern-day version of Deathwish but with a slightly more attractive vigilante protagonist than Charlie Bronson.
