Norma and Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger, delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world; someone they don't know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity.
Very good mystery thriller movie, the ending could be better, but in overall awesome. Avoid the negative comments and give it a shot, you wont be disappointed. I'll give it a 8/10.
I personally think it is quite a good movie. Slow but kept my interest all the way through. I liked the plot and the acting was good. It makes you think about what human beings are capable of for egocentric and altruist reasons. Have a watch and see what you think. According to the comments here it seems that not many people have enjoyed this one, but hey, we are all entitled to our own opinions.

I really expected more of this, I don't know if it's just me, but I didn't understand a thing.. And that ending, huh?

Not a great movie yet not the worst.. it was boring though.. nice & interesting plot but not perfectly executed. I mean it was confusing and it dragged on..
I would do it differently.. like .. hello can I come in.. "yes" heres the box, if u press..bla..bla..bla.."ok" and u'll get 1million $$.."ok" (i'll press the button) gives me the money "Thank you, come again.." HaH! hahahaa.. no no.. I wouldnt do it that way..

This actually had a very clever plot, and impressive acting as well. It exceeded my expectations, i have no clue why it's getting such negative reviews honestly.
I wanted to box my ears for even watching this crazy crap. It's bad enough to make one crazy to be put into a padded box just for watching this. So glad I never wasted my money at the movies to watch this. It's amazing how movie editors can make a movie seem very interesting, even when they know it's a bunch of bull. 2/5 A waste of time, now I tired from this movie and must go to bed.
Not an action movie. Sort of a creepy mystery. While watching the movie, it kinda kept my interest up, wanting to see what would happen next and where the movie was going. After about 3/4 of the way, the movie was coming together and starting to make sense and it did untill the very end. Then the movie had me asking, ok so what was the ending about. 2/5..would give it more but the ending left me hanging.
im a big fan of psycological thillers and quirky films yet after watching this i have to say..
Yawn.
after 10-15 minutes it looked great,the plot was building nicely and so were the charicters, after 30 mins i was thinking; "hang on wheres this going".
the next 90 mins were spent me watching the film thinking "shall i turn it off",
im not the type to give up on films but yuk!
the acting was average at best and the plot was terrible, its hard to say anything possitive about this film appart from it ends! eventually!
it was bad, sad to say the film tried too hard to be cleaver and completly missed the boat.
Despite all the negative criticism, I thought it was a good movie. Not everything has to be spelled out in ABC's, you can use your own brains for interpretation. 4/5
i watched this in the cinema .. and i thought it was rather dragging , diaz's accent got annoying and well there were many loopholes and it got a bit confusing towards the end .. i didnt like it to be honest .. not a great watch 2/5
Good Acting By Some Great Actors/ Horrible Story Line
The acting was great and i love the actors. The story left alot to be desired. My sister n law went to the movies to see this when it first came out and she warned me not to waist my time on it..But i had to see for myself..she was right. 2/5
A lot of these comment are stating that the was bad and this made me really wanna watch it -- to see for myself. I thought it was okay..Nothing i'd watch again soon. But i got the whole concept of the film and found the plot interesting. I like that cameron diaz has gone to more responsible roles. Good film/good acting/good plot. 3.5/4
good movie,confusing at first but it all comes out in the end for people who are struggling with watching it id advise you to stay watching it as the ends the best part!
just dont!! i rode the cam diaz train the whole way through and theres noo light at end of dis tunnel! if u havent seen it yet..run yo a$$ in the other direction! save yourself! i watched it bc i like to form my own opinions ya kno .. ugh its awful~
i really like richard kelly and all his work. But, like every other person said it does get a little tough to follow. And the ending could've been better. On the other hand it does keep you interested and it does bring up some good questions about the human psyche. I enjoyed it, so i would recommend watching it.
