New York City police detective John Shaft (nephew of the original 1970s detective) goes on a personal mission to make sure the son of a real estate tycoon is brought to justice after a racially-motivated murder.
Makes me want to break out a bottle of KOVASEEAAYY and start growing out my FRROO! I give it a 0.ooooooooooo1 on a scale of 5280.That is because we used to have a security guard where I worked named Bessie May that was a big Shaft fan.Bessie Mae(BTW had the same initials as bowel movement) weighed oved 350 pounds. She would clock in to work every day an hour late and pencil whip the time back on the time sheet on friday evenings. She thought this was fair because she had to take her kids to school and wait until her sister got to work at the local Micky Ds so she could pilfer some free breakfast before she came to work. She had brought the guy whom she stole the $8500 per year in cheated wages off of a free Micky Muffin once so it was cool.Actually she had bit into it and hit some runny eggs so she wrapped it up and gave it to dude. That was easier than carrying it to the nearby trash can.Anyway BM was huge so we figured she was big and slow. If shooting ever broke out at the postal contractors bld....we could just run and get behind BM for cover. It was actually a good situation.
I wasn't expecting this to be a scratch on the original series but it actually did it's job and came across as a nowadays sequel rather than a remake.
Good performance from Samuel Jackson and some decent comedy.
What is it with this You Ku crap? Why does it work perfectly the first half of the movie and then drop out? I think maybe they planned it this way. Shaft was an awesome movie, too bad I couldn't finish watching it. Do yourself a favor, if all they have to offer is You Ku pass it up! It doesn't work. No doubt some mustard head will respond and say that it works well for them, oh well.. you must be proud, lucky you.
Samuel L. is 1 bad mothalover, lol, seriously he's 1 hell of a bad ass cop in this movie and to see him go from a hired hit man in Pulp Fiction to a bad ass cop is a big transition. Not to mention that he was eaten by a shark in Deep Blue Sea, lol. Shaft at his best in my opinion, this movie gets a 10/10.
