I Saw this August 9 2011:
I was looking forward to this I probably saw some of the earlier movies in the past but honestly not that I can recall ANYTHING of them I just no the basic idea so I wasnt lost knew who ceaser was and all that.
I really liked this movie wow CGI developed a lot the past few yearss lord of the rings King Kong this what next XD I wonder How the new gollum will look like in the Hobbit just like Dobby in Harry Potter I bet there'll be some change of appearance after 8 years and anyways Gollum ismuch younger at that time .. but yeah Apes.
The casting was brilliant loved Tom Felton James Franco (Did you know they were first going to go with Spidermans Tobey MacGuire then they went to James Franco after Toby jumped out wierd huh) Frieda Pinto um she was ok but almost no point for her character in the film shes like its such a big deal well yeah it is a big deal to be in a movie such as this but she might as well couldve been a stand in extra hardly had anything to do.
Andy Serkis's Ceaser was phenomenal I really enjoyed the movie great story characters what else does a remake need ..I see potetntial Series here :D

So I saw this one on the big screen and it was quite good. My crush James Franco looked sweet, and I am sure the men enjoyed looking at Freida, it was a lovely pairing. The storyline is pretty good and there were even a few times my eyes went moist, who knew primates could pull at my cold stone heart. Worth a watch. 7.8/10

there were no apes at all in this film..no real ones..especially at the zoo/enclosure ..astonishing cgi.. yet it played nicely in the background to the story ..double well done

i have to admit parts of this were really hard to watch. i felt so sorry for the apes. i couldn't wait for them to escape.
it was a great movie and yes, i had a lump in my throat at the end.

An Almost Masterpiece..

and compared to all other 'Planet of' films bar the first original,
best of the lot
(I happened to like Burtons for its look and feel just hated the BS involved in the time travel that let that no sense ending..just to confuse for the sake of it)
This film however has a coherent story line that delivers in spades..at 2 hrs(Edit 1hr45..hmm could have sworn it said 2hrs ah well ) not a short watch yet Ill be honest id have happily sat another hour to watch more of Caesars interactions with his primates and more of the apes evolving intelligence so that the resulting [SPOILER] escape didn't feel so..unrealistic that they escaped in what looked like such a coordinated way after just being exposed seemed out of sync with the rest of the films pacing..Caesar had by my reckoning 8 years to develop the other apes less than 24hrs even with the more aggressive version of the virus ..it was a jump for them to behave in that manner so quickly
That we have future story lines developing during the film was I thought subtle but brilliantly played out..[SPOILER] theres also a clip after the credits where the airline pilot is seen infected and sneezing blood in the airport just before he heads off on a plane..leaving the scope for a pandemic to affect the population whilst the apes get their act together..and the mars mission going missing on its maiden manned flight
now the effects..Wow ..transformers take note
this film has fantastic cgi that truly brings the apes to life without the film story being swallowed by them alone this and cowboys and aliens two films that at last seem to marry technology with story telling
starting with lord of the rings ..in this regard we finally seeing maturity in cgi use
loved this film
