There is a lesson for us guys, don't go for ladies who live in trailers parks and get yourself drunk before starting anything lol. Thought the preacher was kinda right about many things i.e. homosexuals, sex in Thailand with children, the decaying of morals and ethnics but his methods were extreme, just my opinion. Its worth the watch though not horror yet a good thriller.
I've been waiting on this one a long time! Love Kevin Smith, love horror movies and hate self righteous overbearing church people, figured this was the perfect movie for me! I was sadly disappointed. It was a good movie and it was well done, acting was pretty decent, John Goodman was amazing and I hope gets an award for this one, but it's not what it was marketed as being. It's not a horror movie. It's a drama, an action movie, somewhat of a thriller maybe but not horror. Sure this whole church group and it's beliefs is rather horrific but that doesn't make a horror movie. Life itself is horrific but every movie about life we don't call a horror movie.
Smiths marketing people should be fired! It only does the movie a disservice to promote it as something its not because no matter how good it is if you go into it expecting one thing and get something else you're going to be disappointed.
As a horror movie I give it a 1/5
As a drama I give it 4/5
this is a well crafted and enjoyable thriller/social commentary drama
its characters are well conceived and executed and Kevin smith does well outside his comfort zone..
but where does horror come into this..i have thought about it a lot and its just not ..in any shape a horror film..(which is my only gripe about this well made film..i was expecting a horror and was disappointing in that regard)
