Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) reunite for the comedy adventure Paul as two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage takes them to America's UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who brings them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever. For the past 60 years, an alien named Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen) has been hanging out at a top-secret military base. For reasons unknown, the space-traveling smart ass decides to escape the compound and hop on the first vehicle out of town-a rented RV containing Earthlings Graeme Willy (Pegg) and Clive Gollings (Frost). Chased by federal agents and the fanatical father of a young woman that they accidentally kidnap, Graeme and Clive hatch a fumbling escape plan to return Paul to his mother ship. And as two nerds struggle to help, one little green man might just take his fellow outcasts from misfits to intergalactic heroes..
Okay I see all good reviews saying the movie was great, maybe I missed something, didn't liked it a bit, maybe I was expecting Shaun of the Dead type comedy, but was disappointed. 2/5
It might just be me, but I wasn't all that impressed. I loved pegg and frost's previous movies, especially Shaun of the Dead. Paul left me waiting for a good giggle but it didn't happen.
This movie was hilarious!Like mentioned by Timothy, this movie is not only funny, but has a touch of drama, and SciFi. I loved the way Paul behaves in the movie, having picked up "habits" from us Earthlings. It reminds me of a cross between ET and Starman, with comedy thrown in.. I can hardly wait till it comes out on DVD as i will be buying it I am sure!
This movie was a surprise to me. I didn't expect what I did. Paul is hilarious. You can't help but love him. Watched it 2x already. It doesn't disappoint.
I was always interested in the movie and I always thought I hope they didnt blow every fun part and actually the most fun parts are in the trailer but JUST the fun parts this movie is so beyond simple comedy this has EVERYTHING comedy drama romance a bit and a very good story which can't be seen from the trailers. I hope it gets mentioned at least at the MTV Movie Awards its not Oscars movie but till now 30 movies of 2011 this is in my top ten list first first place no less first favorite Comedy (Im not sure how it will stand beside Hangover Part II) and yje song All Over the World fits the movie PERFECTLY and is in the credits.
You have to see it to really understand what its about.
Oh, and its a theatre thing I saw it in theatres and I dont think computer could beat it this way plus audience reactions XD Priceless.
This movie has everything; an alien, action, drama, suspense, strong storyline, and countless lol moments, very entertaining!! worth checking out at least once i'll be watching it again and again :)) pegg and frost are brilliant in this :))
I enjoyed all the "Alien" movie tributes through-out the movie.
If you're a Pegg and Frost fan, you'll enjoy their "best buddy" type of formula comedy.. if not a fan, you might smirk a lot.
