I had no idea about the cicumstances about John growing up, and I grew up with Beatles music. The song Mother at the end was emotional and was apropriate for the movie. One of the great songwriters ever. Rest in Peace. 4/5

This was a very good movie about John Lennon's early years.. It also tells the story of the first formation of the Beatles under the name of the Quarrymen.. Definitely worth watching if your a fan of the Beatles or John Lennon.. 4.5/5..

I thought this was well done, and very well acted! I could have watched several more hours of this movie taking us into, and down a few more roads with the Liverpool lads! 4.5/5 and going on my play list!

Really good movie about the early John Lennon played by Aaron Johnson who fit the part perfectly. After watching this i hope there's going to be a follow up of the next stage in the birth of "The Beatles".

Everything ! This Is An excellent movie ! Even If you omit the biographical context , this film , on It's own , Is exceptional ! Something almost everyone can relate to In a drama , an Interesting story , well put together and well done ! EXCELLENT ! Being a biography about an Individual almost everyone loves , and although " BIOGRAPHIES " , always leave something to be desired In detail of context , there Is utmost compassion here ! I'm surprised ! I thought this was going to be another , " Rock and roll " EXTRAVAGANZA " , It's not ! IT'S EXCELLENT !

I think the story was too melodramatic, when instead it could have shown us more
of the huge changes which were occurring in popular music in those almost forgotten years..when a nowhere boy could become one of the few kings of music.

Very enjoyable movie, John's young life was neither tragic or sad, he had two guardians who obviously adored him and had he lived with his mother life would have been so different for him, with the mum suffering depression and in and out of hospitals and picking up with different men, he then really would have been a very sad little boy, as it was he appeared to enjoy life.

They don't really look like the the characters they're suppose to play!
Not saying the movie is bad..I actually like it a lot. But the guy who plays Paul looks nothing like him. At first I didn't even realize it was him! XD

I didn't see what you saw..(for those who thought his childhood was sad) This guy had 4 people fighting to keep him! He was raised by his aunt and uncle who treated him proper. Yes, all of us would love to have both parents but there are kids out there with both parents who are abused and miserable. John had a good childhood who was loved for and cared for. No one has a good reason to be strung out on heroin..especially John. I don't want you to think I don't like John because I loved his music, infact, he was my favorite Beatle. I am speaking from being 47 yrs old and knowing what's really important in life. His life was not bad by any means.

What a brilliant piece of film based on the youth of an extraordinary man.firstly i dont know how accurate this story is but i have to say that everything about this was flawless.every last detail of costume,setting and most of all acting was exceptionable,especially the lead role as john..ye it was a scouse accent but he actually sounded like john.sometimes i wonder what john would have made of this day and age with war and global warming and all the chaos that exists on our sanctuary that we call home and i have no doubt that he would be pissed off about the whole situation and i know if he were here with us today he would be campaighning to make this world a better place and in my eyes the world would be a better place with john around.the world needs more john lennon`s.
I did not want this to end and just like the bio of jim morrison i would watch this again and again.i`m not the biggest beatles fan but this is an amazing piece of film documenting the early life of a musical genious.brilliant.10/10.P.S..when will the powers that be mmake a movie about bob marley?.now that would be a story.

john would have reacted to this day and age just as he did in his own time(I know that's sounds kind of funny because this would have been his time..had it not been cut short) he would have scoffed at all the hate in the world and tried to get people to just get along..just like he did when he was alive..I also believe that this was a very good film..he probably would have made fun of himself had he seen it..and bob marley does need to have his story told..even though I'm not a huge marley fan...I still would enjoy seeing it....

Well zman421 the obvious choice would be either damien or steven marley in that they both look and sound like him allthough i dont know about their acting credentials.bobs life story is an amazing one and i think with the right director and crew this would be a very successfull movie.Lastrequest i`d auditition for the part myself but like you i`,m hindered because i have a thick dublin accent and no dreads.lol.i have a good voice and play alot of bobs tunes on guitar so maybe that would stand for me.ha ha.

I didn't know anything about Lennon's childhood until I saw this film, a very sad and moving story that I enjoyed and could relate to, a very good performance by the cast also, I rate it a 4/5.
