A westerner studying Ninjutsu in Japan, is asked by the Sensei to return to New York to protect the legendary Yoroi Bitsu, an armored chest that contains the weapons of the last Koga Ninja.
Great film looks like it was made in the 80's but good storyline classic ninja movie style all the way through lot's of action a bit of love and honor if you are a fan for ninja movies then this film is for you 5/5
i think the point at which i stopped watching this (about 3 mins in) was when i realised the lead actor wasn’t asian - why would you get a nurse to perform surgery when you can employ a surgeon? and in addition to that revelation the titles shooting everything felt like a B - 80's movie – I’m shocked its rated so highly!!
Oh, yeah, this movie has it all: decent hand-to-hand combat sequences, dumb scenes, stupid dialogs and even naive evil characters. Perfect for 12yo. 3/5. (P.S. God, I wish I had a chance to pay $10 to see the pitch meeting for that script).
wake up my friend, it's 2010 outside - 12yo kids are killing each other online 24/7, using chain saws, grenades and big guns.. so Ninja movie is not that cruel after all - it has a happy end remember? :)
i thought it was good. nice action/fighting sequences..plus a little bit of luv thrown in. it did have a 70's 80's feel to it. LOT'S of blood and gore..4/5 stars
Great action and gore! They combined some modern technology with a 70s and 80s kung fu flick feel. Problem is I am not sure the retro feel was intentional. It may just be the result of awful acting, and writing combined with a low budget.
LOL. After all its been at least 20 years since I have seen a martial arts film where the ugly american is called upon to save the ninja culture. I mean after all, how did Asians ever perfect the art of the silent assassin (Ninja) without some big body builder looking american to help them? [Tongue firmly planted in cheek here]
All in all its a good martial arts movie though. If you can stand the cheesiness and the played out white american orphan raised by ninjas dribble, its worth the watch. The action is a 10/10. Just try not to over think this one.
This is like a blast of the past..with all the staging feel of the 80's-90's martial arts epic flick..fun and enjoyable!
The stunts are crazy exciting and it is refreshing to see Asian women not displayed as whores and misguided ones that are lost in the system of depravity.
Although, I wish the daugther character of the sensai, could hold her own in the fight, it is good to see that she was exhibited as a wholesome woman, not a sleep-around lost soul, which is the stereotype and norm for so many modern action kung fu films.
Also this was a film, not laden with foul language, so as a father myself, can and could share this film with his sons. Good work! I'm looking for the sequel.
Ok for a one timer. I have to agree with the others about the outfits, kind of silly and cheap looking. Reminds me of Voltron and Hong Kong Phooey. Alomst comical in a way. And
[SPOILER]
who is the fat dude always standing next to the sensi that does absolutely nothing in the movie?
I'm also
[SPOILER]
not convinced the American was good enough to beat the Japanese ninja either
Could not get into this movie if i want to watch a good Karate Movie that looks like it been set back in the 70' or 80's I'll go watch a Bruce Lee movie
