Quite truthfully the most dire movie I have ever seen in my life.Some dope talked me into going to the cinema - he chose the film & to add insult to injury,I paid.
I was sitting there,bored out of my mind,begging for it to be over.Upon musical intros,my brain screamed "Oh,please God NO!Not another song!"
I really think,the director threw this together - a weak storyline and horribly bad songs,then thought it would fly if it was beautifully filmed and Sophia Loren and Judi Dench's names appeared in the billing.
Dead wrong.Damn,direct me to the nearest slasher-flick asap.
i cant believe i wasted my money to go watch this movie at the cinema. what a total waste, i did not get this slow boring movie,i just DID NOT GET IT! I was waiting for it to end and by the end of the movie i asked myself ''what was this movie about?'' i couldnt answer that question.
oh, and why the hell is this movie called nine??
It's not as good as made out to be.
I remember seeing the trailer on TV and saw all the raving reviews about how great it was? Plot is dull .. not much to keep me interested.
..how to get a bunch of great actors to perform such a waste of time movie,with
laughable old fashion music and songs,seen a million time before dancing,a non existing and embarrassing script(by the late Tony Minghella) and the darkest sets ever seen, it was the biggest achievement by Rob Marshall(as if Chicago wasn't enough)..tiring effort,endlessly boring ..and it probably caused Fellini to turn in his grave..but that is a different story..great Penelope Cruz as always ,2/5.
daniel day lewis is an artist, theres nothing that he cant do..i loved it..all the singing and dancing..it was just great.
loved all the women in the movie, it was a feast for the eyes and ears!!
is SLEEK & SEXY. Rob Marshall has done it again and show's us he's the king of musical to film. OUTSTANDING performance by Daniel Day-Lewis as Guido Contini, Penélope Cruz is WONDERFUL as his mistress Carla, "Dame" Judi Dench is BRILLANT as always as she portray's Lili (great to see her all sexed out for her musical number "Folies Bergere."), and let's not forget Stacy Ferguson (Fergie) who play's the prostitute Saraghina Unforgetable scene & musical number "Ti Voglio Bene/Be Italian." and nods to Sophia Loren (Mamma), Kate Hudson (Stephanie), Nicole Kidman (Claudia) & Marion Cotillard as Guido's wife Luisa Contini who all give powerful (yet small) performance's. Nine is right up to par with Chicago. 4.5/5
Sorry to say but i think this movie was kinda crappy.. i didn't like it much. The characters were barely shown,k almost everyone else made a really short appearances
Yes the cast was amazing, but none of them had much time on screen so its hard to invest much interest in any of the characters. The songs I found very boring except for Fergie's number. So my suggestion would be to just find her performance and then don't watch the rest of the movie. Oh and I have no idea what the title Nine is supposed to mean.. I thought maybe it referred to the women in his life, but there are only 7.. whatever its not worth my time to think about.. One last thing.. Penelope cruz is nominated for best supporting actress.. umm what is with her always getting nominated?? She was hardly even in the film at all.. She is over rated and ugly. His wife in the movie deserved a nomination before her.
this was an amazing rendition of Nine. i have been a fan of this musical ever since i saw the revival when i was 13. i loved more things about it than i disliked. i wasn't a huge fan of Nicole Kidman's version of "Unusual Way" it wasn't bad, but very different, and when you are used to the amazing soprano of Laura Benanti, it is a bit of a letdown, but it wasn't horrible at all. Fergie did an amazing job with "Be Italian"! Penelope Cruz was fantastic as Carla, i just wish they had let her sing "Simple" instead of cutting it out because it would have been fantastic and brought the story together a bit more. Judi Dench was fantastic!! her "Forlies Bergere" was great. Marion Cotilliard was AMAZING! as Luisa. her version of "My Husband Makes Movies" is my favorite i have ever heard, and "Take It All" was breathtaking. Kate Hudson, Sophia Loren, and Daniel Day Lewis were all fantastic as well. I love musicals, i love Italian culture, and i love the style from the 50s and 60s, if you enjoy any of those things you will love this movie. my only complaint is they cut out some good songs, i wish they had left them in and made the movie longer:) 9/10
This is one of those movies I'm so glad I could watch here for free. I enjoyed it but not enough to fork over $8.50 at the theater. Fergie's "sand" dance was amazing. Kate Hudson looked just like her mom go-go dancing circa Laugh-In days. Sophia Loren and Nicole Kidman seemed like "stunt casting" (sorry Sophia) and both turned in forgettable performances. Daniel Day-Lewis was great as usual. 4/5
Love the musical numbers, my favorite was Fergie's, the storyline was a little all over the place, but great style and great performances. A very good watch.
I thought it was alright..there were shades of Chicago especially with the Judi Dench song at the Nightclub (aka Queen Latifah song at Nightclub in Chicago). Anyway, very stylish movie..but it was missing something..3/5
