It has a good plot. This proves there is not a lot of difference between a great movie and a movie that still needs some work. Need to define a thesis statement or plot..use some subtitles and try again..BTW would it be so bad if these Kurds got a little land to settle down on. Isn't Turkey a big country already. Would it not be better to have peace and a good neighbor. ..The Kurds settled down and did fine after Sadam was taken down. There country lands look peaceful and nice. I would give them Texas and New Mexico through California to have good neighbors like that.
What would they do with that land? They'd be a poor landlocked nation. They already are citizens of Turkey and they can speak their language, have a career, and do whatever they want--why do they need any more than that?
If I want to have a society on just playing chess, is it OK for me to revolt against the US government to get my own piece of land? You would be fine with giving up land to my cult society?
This is an awesome movie. The Loombo version is pretty good with subtitles. It shows a realistic look into how Turkish blue beret commandos fight terrorists in the mountains and how difficult their job is. How much they suffer to fight off terrorists who still cling to nationalistic dogma.
It's in Turkish.BTW the title means "Breath,in the name of the motherland or motherland is worth it' in this context.Turkey has been fighting the PKK a terrorist organization that fights for an independent state for kurds in turkey.They are killing their own people along the way.Very sad for both sides,so many lives lost.God bless their souls.Poor civilians killed by turkish troops or PKK.Turks and Kurds are brothers and sisters this is all politics..
Hey PollyX5, what are you ranting about? Just here to insult Turks for making a movie huh? And since you mention Armenian actors, maybe you're Armenian and hate Turks.
The movie is not propaganda, it's a story. It's quite well done actually and got raving applause at international film festivals. The story is, how difficult it is for a bunch of normal people taken out of their normal lives and put into a dangerous boring place. It shows how stupid it is to be nationalistic and revolt against governments because it shows there are Kurds in the Turkish army too. It has a clear positive message: war is horrific.
Which is how they live and thus realistic of the movie to portray. Soldiers are patriotic.. In every country. And in fact, the Turkish army is defending their homeland from terrorist attacks.
