London Boulevard"; is the story of a man newly released from prison who falls in love with a reclusive young movie star and finds himself in a duel with a vicious gangster.
It looks like they had all the raw materials to make a good movie script, cast etc. But then they gave it over to a director who seriously dropped the ball. The pacing is all over the place, parts just seam to be an after thought. The plot had some minor issues but once again I think it might have worked with a better director. 5/10
OK, but could have been a lot better. For once I think a movie could actually have done with being longer. Keira Knightly and Colin Farrel being in love just popped up out of nowhere, and Ray Winstone's mob boss was very one dimensional due to lack of character development.
The story, particularly the ending, is rather hackneyed. Take this plot..

Heavy duty criminal gets out of prison, tries to go straight, gets dragged into trouble by a supposed friend who turns on him, plans to do a runner with posh girlfriend for new life, outwits his enemies against the odds to win his freedom, makes to leave and is murdered by a nobody who he should have killed earlier but uncharacteristically showed mercy to.
