June, 1982 - The First Lebanon War. A lone tank and a paratroopers platoon are dispatched to search a hostile town - a simple mission that turns into a nightmare. The four members of a tank crew find themselves in a violent situation that they cannot contain. Motivated by fear and the basic instinct of survival, they desperately try not to lose themselves in the chaos of war.
As a former armor crewman myself (M60A3 and then M1A1).. They spent a lot of time buttoned down (hatched is closed). TC (tank commander) should be on top watching and the gunner should be scanning the sorroundings and NOT train his sight on one spot.
As a TC..I would have just shot the gunner myself first for STUPIDITY and cowardice before the mission ever began.
About the subtitle its right that its mixed with italian and english and the best if you can understand hebrew.:)
To understand this movie, i mean the deeper parts of it, not so easy for the individual who knows nothing about that region.
How did this preposterous film win top prize at Venice remains a mystery..too many times lately, Israelis movies have shown us some of their unjustified deeds
as traumatic to their troops..is this a joke or what?? what exactly is the message here?..also the subtitles are horrendous, a mixture of italian and crazy english ..not recommended ..2/5.
An interpretation on the reality of war, mostly through the sight of tank cross-hairs.
Some of the visuals were okay within the pacing of the storyline but something wasn't jiving.
If you hate subtitles, you'll really hate this movie.
I don't mind reading - but some of the translation was too literal (broken English) and there were times I kept losing the context and the rhythm of the dialogue.
