A teacher opens a time capsule that has been dug up at his son's elementary school; in it are some chilling predictions -- some that have already occurred and others that are about to -- that lead him to believe his family plays a role in the events that are about to unfold.
X-Files, Armageddon, Psycho, 23, Don't Say a Word, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Twilight Zone series and Any bad Nicolas Cage movie
Some of these are good movies or shows, but wrapped up in one, you get this movie, which is very bad. It started off okay with the numbers

But why does every creepy thriller movie like this always have to do with aliens? The Forgotten for example. Why can't people just be crazy? Why couldn't the woman just have been a predictor or prophet of all these catastrophes? Just cause it would be a downer if the whole human race was destroyed? Oh so have these two kids run in a wheat field expected to repopulate the Earth, and "screw" like rabbits? Yeah I get the symbolism. That's a nice lasting image.
It just became over the top and ridiculous and almost unwatchable. Plus why the hell does Nicolas cage still have that awful hairdo? 1.5/5 only because it started off okay.
Without wishing to sound lame (but doing so anyway) I have a soft spot for this movie as Beethoven's 7th Symphony is one of the most beutiful pieces of music ever written. 10/10 for the soundtrack.
Alex Proyas was responsible for the brilliantly stylistic The Crow (1994) and the outstanding Dark City (1998). These were bold, original and hugely entertaining films but since then Proyas has done little of interest. The special effects in this film are surprisingly good though, but that's just about it. Nicholas Cage is making it very hard for audiences to take him seriously as an actor, and in my opinion, he has increasingly drifted towards giving hammy performances that come close to unintentional self-ridicule. Knowing is possibly his worst performance..
I read other users comments on this movie before i watched it which made me expect it to be rubbish. I thought that this movie was great. I loved Nicholos Cage, i think he did great. could maybe have had a better ending that didnt involve aliens because just recently it seems that every movie i come across has aliens involved somewhere. good movie overall though 8/10
I realy liked this movie, for those of you people who didn't like the ending GET OVER IT! It was the most logical ending in my opinion and made perfect sense and I totaly agree with chevinator.
Ok, i like nicholas cage perty good, but this movie backs up the notion of Scientology little too much for me. in my opinion, of course. alright, probably one of Cage's worse films. 3/5
i dont care what u telling about this movie.im always intrest to watch sci fi,mystry movies..this is not best but its good..i like first few hours.bt its better if they not collect the aliens or prophecy part to this film..as a sixtth sence director had to let it to feel natural way ..its better if its ending with out joing with another world peoples..any way good movie..good actors..7/10
I liked the movie all in all acting great storyline great. But the ending was way off for me I mean for the sun to end our earth I mean thats somthing waiting to happen expected it was rumored many times but I mean ALIENS?! ALIENS?!
SERIUSLEY?! I mean OH MY GOD HOW LOW WOULD HOLYWOOD SINK the ending with the aliens was simply and uterly RIDICULOUS I loved the whole movie but its a pity they put that in the end of the movie cause that one scene ruined it for me it would've been 10/10 now its just 3/10 ALIENS?!

lol really if you have such a bad problem with aliens, write the ending urself, to be honest i think it was the only logical ending, and those aliens wasnt like any i have seen before kinda
First I don't know why people keep mentioning M. Night Shyamalan; he has nothing to do with this movie which was directed by Alex Proyas.
That cleared, Knowing is a mixed bag of a movie that mixes several genres. The important thing is that as a cinematic experience it is rather satisfying. Don't try to find out too much about it before you watch it because it works pretty well as a mystery. I was quite entertained and captivated all along as the movie provides protracted suspense and action scenes.
I just want to stress that with a movie like this it's the journey that matters more than the destination. When you get to the end and every veil has been lifted it will be up to you to decide whether you like where it went.
In any case it's a good ride.
