had a few creepy moments but hate that they made the ghosts and demons look so amateur.
a few other things bothered me [SPOILER] concern for their kids was always secondary - did you notice how many times the baby was ignored after an incident? . and the ending was kind of stupid [SPOILER] he always hated having his picture taken, so was that thing in him all the time? is that why the psychic told his mother to stop taking pics of him way back when he was a kid? that's how it would appear, yet he did try to rescue his son. .

The first half of this movie was actually scary, which makes a change for modern horror movies. In the second half however it seemed to lurch into some sort of parody of itself and the decision to go for a few laughs ruined the creepiness and suspense it had so painstakingly built up beforehand. The ghosts stopped being sinister and were replaced by grinning imbeciles and the monster, mysterious and disturbing in the first half, become totally over exposed and lost all it's impact as a result.
The plot is clearly a cross between The Exorcist and Poltergeist, particularly the latter. I am also thoroughly bored with there being a horrible twist at the end of every horror movie now and think a happy ending would make a pleasant change for once.
All that said, I would certainly recommend this movie for the first half which is genuinely scary.

This was a little scarier than I tought it would be. When was young (11 or 12 years) I watched the movie ''Dead End'' where Lin Shaye scared the ** out of me. I dont even know why, she is just scary. In a certain way I was so traumatised that everytime she disappears in a movie it happens again. What other people may have with clowns I have with Lin Shaye. Besides that this movie was a little too much for me but its definitely entertaining enough to watch. 7-/10

actually i found it amusing, a melting pot of all sorts of horror tricks old and new intentionally very funny as to ease some of the scary parts. Worth the watch.

As a movie it was ok but as a horror it was very poor. I went to see this with a friend of mine that cant handle horror movies at all and even he was uneffected. A horror with no frights is pointless 4/10

I liked this movie even though I predicted the ending. It wasn't scary, but had a couple creepy moments and yes some of the scenes were laughable. Most of the viewers probably grew up in the 70's and 80's when there was real horrors, films that made you jump and gave you nightmares. These days there is too many cliche's and predictible outcomes. Overall 3/5 worth a watch.

Ridiculous, I mean have I lost the ability to be scared and feel something or are every single scary so called movies RIDICULOUS?
At the beginning it was a bit creepy freaky and then it was the very unusual monsters that you didnt expect to see that maybe gave you a 0.00 sec rush and the a 5 mins long laughter but then it was the fact that you should not sleep or you will not sleep and float to another world and so the very scary old lady and the act could be better!
I dont know i slept through it a bit and well annoying movie.
A Must See or Not! 2/5 star movie =)=)=)

Ok this movie dosent make ANY sense the whole thing is disturbing but not scary problem is with these (Trying to be scary) movies is that they're predictable Saw Paranormal Activity this these all have two things in common Disturbing but not scary. I never jumped maybe its just me Im hard to scare or maybe its just people are too easy which then Im sorry for you XD.

This whole movie is more wierdly funny than scary I mean come on Paranormal Activity, Saw, this can these guys make anything REALLY SCARY come on everybodys like I couldnt sleep or I couldnt be alone oh COME ON PEOPLE did you see real scary movies these are disturbing but thats not scary COME ON wow people scare easily these days

Wow ghosts and demons looked amateur? Really? They looked just like real people then when they went into freak mode they looked totally different, crazy distorted smiles and hoofed feet, spiked teeth. This movie was awesome.. You totally have to watch it. I had to walk my gf to the bathroom after this flic.. It is that good. 4.5/5

There were some scary moments, kinda creepy in spots.
Some of the images are great fuel for nightmares.. Mwa Ha Ha

Quite a good horror story but the film doesn't really do it justice.
The first half hour is slow, trying to build suspense and rapport with the characters, neither of which it manages successfully.
Thereafter it's formulaic with the quasi comic psychic technicians and the all-seeing elderly female mystic with a priest thrown in briefly as a token nod in the direction of religion.
There is some good nightmare imagery and some of the entities you certainly wouldn't want to bump into and that manages to lift what otherwise would be a quite dreary film.
All in all, worth watching but nothing too special.

You may hear people say things like "They botched the ending" or "It's low budget"
But please don't listen to the pedants.
This movie is genuinely scary on many levels. Sure it's a bit fantastical and a little far-fetched but it's a fictional story. If you can look past the surface and imagine yourself in the situation you'll get goosebumps many times during the show. I guarantee you will not watch this alone with the lights off. I tried.
I managed to watch it alone but the lights are on and probably will be all night. haha!
10/10 for me. Give it a go.
