The fact that all this actually happened made me think this movie was interesting and worth a second watch. Julien Hulme, who changed her name into ''Anne Perry'' became a famous crime writer (the irony). I saw an interview with her, and dont think she ever regret what she did.

She said something like she was punished for what she did and can now move on. A normal person cant go on, just because you spend 5 years jail. The prize for killing your best friends mother, should not be 5 years..

I was able to watch part 1-2, got really bored and didn’t finish it. Give it a tray maybe you will like it.
I enjoyed this and I can't really explain why. It was a little slow, but that did not take away from the movie it just helped to build it up. Give a watch for yourself.
THis was good up until the end. THis is what happens when parents are passive and allow children to dominate, they would have been separated after one week, they where too hyper together and would have gotten on my nerves. They were obviously mental and their fantasyland mentalities weren't challenged enough, after all they where 14 and 15 not 10. To be that immersed in fantasy at 15 is a problem. 3/5

Great Peter Jackson film. Incredible true story; invokes many emotions throughout; I found it to be simultaneously sad and somewhat unsettling, but also beautiful.
Melanie Lynskey is a great actress. She gave a very memorable performance in this film..especially for her age at the time. Kate Winslet was also very good.

I'm not sure what I was expecting. Kate Winselt looked a little old for her part. The black haired girl should have played in "The Omen." Overall, it was an okay movie..someone should have been institutionalized!!
Kate Winslet and Melanie Lynskey are of coarse the best and together they made me feel the adolescent passion in these two young woman..This true story, although somewhat dramatized, demonstrated what two people, males or females for that matter would do for forbidden love and desire..
I saw this many many years ago when I was quite young after googleing what I remebered of the film I finally found out what it was called and had to watch it.
I thought it was amazing film very thought provocking.

I didn't expect a lot of the things that happened in this movie, but I have to say it was pretty spectacular. The story really spoke of the power of imagination and a love that went too far. It was wonderfully weird and perfectly unsettling. I would definitely watch it again. 9/10
I concur, based on the notorious 1954 Parker-Hulme murder, committed by two teenage girls in Christchurch, New Zealand. Featuring Melanie Lynskey, Kate Winslett and Sarah Peirse, the film deals with the obsessive relationship between two girls. A must see in my opinion.
It's two hours of your life that you'll never get back. One of the strangest movies I've ever seen, and I've seen some movies that were far out there but this takes the cake. Overall it was just plain BORING! The end.
Normally I am a Jackson/Walsh fan but for me the ending of the movie was confusing if not overly chaotic and didn't bring enough of a sense of closure to the story. Still it was worth a watch while cleaning the house or working on a project even if I wouldn't watch it again. Maybe the director's cut brings something more to the table?
