Based on Terry Pratchett's 33rd Discworld novel about a skillful con artist, Moist Von Lipwig, who finds the tables turned and is conned into taking the job as Postmaster General in the Ankh-Morpork Post Office - a position that has not been filled in years.
Thought this was ok, but a bit dreary, as it was hyped up to be a consistant array of fasination and it was not just that , it was typical, but still a good movie, why do thjey show all this progression and then stagger it, with small doses
For fans of Terry Pratchett's work and his Sky Features, This is, again, definately one to watch. Although I would have to say this was the weakest of the three so far.
If you havent seen The Hogfather or The Colour of Magic, or are unfamiliar of Pratchetts style, This might present itself as strange and possibly uninteresting at the start. It does pick up though, however it doesnt pierce you with the tenterhooks dangling from the first part of 'The Colour of Magic.
I would definately recommend watching at least one of the Discworld features before watching this.
The casting was good, and a British audience would find some familiar faces, but I had really expected David Jason to lead again. I think he and Death really made the 1st two features, but obviously Death wasnt a big part of the novel here.
Im really looking forward to a feature of 'Thief of Time'. Perhaps David Jason would fit the part of Mr. Soak.
As it is tough to compete with the masterpieces of this genre, 'Stardust' and 'LOTR', and because it wasnt as good as the previous adaptations, I would rate this an 8.5
I kinda liked this, its really nice in a way the real world isnt. Anyway, I saw it somewhere else and it didnt know anything about it- turns out Terry Pratchett is a pretty prolific author. I found other works by him on here:
was not bad a good movie to watch in family funny sometimes nice flick good moral like i said nobody cannot feel something good inside helping each other making someone's else happy feel so good give a 7/10 for dis one
this reminds me of old school story telling, magic and good and evil with all sorts of possible outcomes, even when things seem dire, ta da and something unexpected comes up. would probably be very interesting to children. as for me it was just so so. I give it a 3 out of 5.
Watched this over both nights it was shown in the UK. As a huge Pratchett fan I am always worried that the humour of the books won't translate onto screen but with this production they did an excellent job. The 3 hrs was needed to do the story justice. This was one of my favourite Pratchett books. 'Making Money' has to be next..?
Nice to see Andrew Sachs in this production. Two fingers up to that prat Russell Brand after the bullying incident.
