It dragged on for a long time, the only good part about the movie was Naomi Watts and Tim Roth, I love them both. Those two guys scared the crap out of me, they were weirdo's.
Classic remake of a classic. This really is a movie for people who enjoy something else. Something else meaning something that will get you.
Director gives you as the watcher no power at all and leaves you with your mouth wide open. The one moment where you think you'll get some classic and well deserved revenge (as in typical Hollywood movies) he takes it away from you by simply letting Michael Pitt hit the rewind button and leaving you as powerless as the family they're torturing.
I'm sorry but if you didn't like this movie (i.E called it bad or pretentious bs) you have no clue what you're talking about and would be better off not commenting and watching sponge Bob. The point of the movie is that you don't like it. Might be hard to understand, but try. Simply because you didn't like it/get it doesn't mean it's bad. 9/10

I saw this movie a couple years ago and remember the profound effect it had on me. I really don't like this movie but i respect the structure of the story.Funny Games is as bizarre, disturbing and authentic a movie experience as anything done by Alfred Hitchcock.
That is also what gets it into trouble. Because this movie is very authentic!

When the son was killed i wasn't sure if the television broke. First i sat up then after a while i was wondering why I'd never heard of this director before. He films the onslaught like a painter creating a tranquil place of meditation

Michael Pitt is intriguingly nefarious and Naomi play's the victim. You could say she owns the job "hook line and sinker"
This is one movie I'm not in any hurry to watch any time soon cause it's still in my head.
i've seen it before but now i watched this because i've just finished to watch "white ribbon" the same director. "Funny Games' is very similar-if we are talking about content-to "white ribbon" but at visual layer it;s totally different. however both of this movies are interesting, deal with unknown evil (maybe evil inside the innocent children?) "White ribbon" is more subtle and sophisticated then Funny.. but this one is great in show incredible contrast between good, polite children and their brutal behavior. This version is the same on "Funny Games" 1997.
I liked it almost all, then, the end sucked. Too sudden probably, I think they could've exploided the movie better, since Michael Pitt is an EXCELLENT actor, which was probably the only reason I kept watching it. The fact that he spoke to the audience didn't bother me at all, I actually think it was interesting in that sense, made it different from others. But still, the fact remains, they could've made a better job with it, specially with that ending. Worth a watch, specially if you're a Michael Pitt fan.
in the beginning i taught it will b a good movie but how can a man let some dudes comes in their house and let them do what ever they want damnn ain,t gonna happen here tho lol this movie was interesting but the end was so bad 5/10 for this movie
What is it you say? The german version was exactly the same, only a tad better for being the original version? Well, maybe, but Michael Pitt wasn't in it. What is it you say? Naomie Watts got on your nerves just like she did in all the other movies she was in? Yeah, but this time Michael Pitt is in the movie too. What is it you say? You thought that a story where two skinny kids terrorizing people without proper weapons, not getting harmed in any ways and never sleeping and barely eating was kinda weak? Well, re-think that cos Michael Pitt was one of them skinny kids. What is it you say? You thought it was weird that one of the kids talk to the camera like he's talking directly to you and that "where's the remote??" line made you mad? But then again, it was Michael pitt! If at the end of my comment you haven't found out what the only reason to watch this movie is, try watch it for yourself.
I thought this was a very interesting film, really well written and directed. I liked the fact it was really aware of the genre it was in and how it made use of alot of plot devices. The use of breaking the fourth wall was a really good touch. Quite complicated to understand unless you read up about the film first, but an interesting watch. 4/5
haha how i heard about this movie was from a friend who saw it on tv. glad i watched it finally. i really enjoyed this movie. its not a horror movie. and id say its more cold humor than twisted. and for the people who have left comments saying this made them pissed or angry over the outcome: if you wanna watch a nice pleasant ending then go watch a western.
anyways great acting, great concept, loved the humor 10/10 this is defintly now a favorite for me
I cant say this was a "great" movie because it is so full of evil and I am so angry its hard to say much.I cant say half of what I need to and want to without ruining the movie for everyone. That things like this can happen sickens me,and to watch this happen even in a movie is too much to fathom.
Everything about it was good, production wise,acting,story, etc it is just the content that turns my blood cold.Oh what I want to do to those boys. And I realize the anger I feel is because we did not get

. I was even angry at the husband for being such a wimp.

welcome to the 21st century! :) a good movie never has a resolution or true ending. if every movie had an ending where the bad guys get caught, how dull that would be. its refreshing and nice to see the bad guys win. its funny and you cant help to cheer for em.
The movie was definitely clever, I'll give it that, but I came away at the end a bit unsure how I felt. There were some scenes what were slow but then I realized that is exactly how it would be in a real life situation. I'm still confused about that ONE scene - if you've taken a watch, you know which one I mean. It's worth a watch 3/5.
the husband needed to grow some balls. this was decent. not great but not bad. it was kinda sad. the whole "remote control" thing made this movie different, and it did make some sense, as the two maniacs involved the audience in this by speaking to us.

then one of them put played an audience's role and rewinded to prevent the mother from shooting the other maniac. when he did so, i thought my computer was possessed and rewinded by itself or something haha.
worth watching once, but it's ok if you skip this one. you won't miss out on much.
