Hey, well Flipped was alright but not as good as I was expecting somehow. The device of having most of the story 'narrated' as voiceover by each of the main characters, 'from their own perspectives', slowed the movie down and made it drag.
A predictable but pleasant story of first Love, this film scores highly on the sets and general styling, making the 60s come to Life on your screen, but I couldn't help but wonder if these kids would be dropping out and turning on a few years up the line when 1967 arrived.. they were just the right age! People always get all dewey-eyed about growing up in the 60s, or rather nostalgic about how great it must have been.. believe me, being a kid in the early 60s was pretty boring, so many things you couldn't do.. Fortunately things got better later for those of us who were there He-He!!
Anyway, Flipped was OK but quite pedestrian, it felt too slow to me and I blame the director as the actors were all fine.. Nice enough for a one time watch, but it's a pity, it should have been much better.. 3/5
PS I forgot to say.. The tree which was so important in the story, they said it was a Sycamore, "I recognize it from the leaves and the bark" she said. Well in reality the tree in the picture is actually a Plane tree.. I recognized the leaves and the bark myself! Ah well they do say the Devil's in the detail!! :))
Trying to explain how good this film is would damage it.
I'm left here speechless trying to prolong the magic by listening to the credits music hoping it wont end. I feel like I've been ambushed by an onslaught of relentless superior quality acting and storytelling. I don't know what took me to click that link, I don't even normally watch that kind of flick. I am so glad I did.
