Its a good enough move well directed/acted etc. My main gripe is with the story, a thriller is suppose to have surprises and twists in it but i wasn't surprised once
The movie was ok but not what i was expecting from a Mel Gibson movie in terms of quality. The story seemed to drag and there wasn't much action! I didnt really get the story coz i found it hard to follow, but maybe thats just me. Overall ok for a one time watch but nothing special .. 3/5
Mel's one of my favorite actors. having said that this was an average film. it had a couple of standout scenes and the acting was well enough. it just didn't impact me like i would have liked. it also dragged a bit at times. the first half i'd rate higher than the second. it started with promise but failed to keep it. as for my fellow conspiracy theorists, the message of corruption and redirection certainly rings a bell. 2.5/5
Whistle-blower..sometimes have to pay heavy price..!
When one's decide to blow off the whistles and all those associated with them too,.. have to shoulder the burden..and death is always a step away..!!
A good movie..and Mel Gibson his fatherly instinct and a one tough soul to break..!!
i feel afraid to comment after readin someone elses essay,about readin between the lines,just because someone found a movie bad doesnt make them blind to the world.but as i didnt enjoy the film much i must still believe in fairytales.6/10
This had all the ingredients for a good mystery/thriller film but just didnt deliver a big enough punch for me to really enjoy it. I loved the whole revenge side to the story and it really felt as if the film was going to get going after the first 10 minutes but it went a bit flat. In the end it was just another government conspiracy thriller and didnt really do anything to stand out. To say it was a bad film is very harsh, it wasnt bad it was just average. Theres not alot wrong with being average though. I thought Mel Gibson would have picked a stronger film to do after being out of acting for a couple of years. Not alot wrong with this film but if you want a politically charged thriller i would recommend the Jason Bourne series of films. Average from start to finish. 3/5
To all who thought it was less than "EXCELLENT" or a one-time watch..or who thought the ending was disappointing-- I suggest thinking is in order.
Wonder if u thought the same about "Silkwood" or "Johhny Got His Gun".."Pelican Brief".."Erin Brockovich"
(not to mention "Rainmaker" and "A Civil Action".)
and all the other movies that try to get people to read between the lines, open their eyes. Some stories are horrifyingly true, some based on truth, some are fiction but probably based on something someone somewhere knew was true.
The messages I read in this movie were dual:
1.if you see something going on that is simply WRONG in every way, honor requires you bring it to light, regardless of the outcome. You have to accept you may suffer--or even die--yet still act on principle.
2. Our "TV" government is a front for a clandestine core: those in the private sector (like, maybe, Halliburton..Black Hawk Security, arms and munitions manufacturers and the like) who want to perpetuate war for profit and thansk to "investments" are in lockstep with a Congress that can be bought. They have no scruples and war is a brisk and profitable business. No compunction about staging phony terrorist attacks to start--and keep-- the money rolling in.
As President Eisenhower said in his departure speech, "Beware the Military-Industrial complex." Even then, he tried to warn us, way back when.
The recent 5-4 Supreme court decision, to allow corporations (essentially) to dump unrestricted amounts of money into carefully selected political campaigns to insure election/re-election of politicians who will support their agendas, just threw open the barn door for taking TOTAL control of the country. Inevitably the "if you can't lick 'em, join 'em" stampede will begin. We are in serious trouble here, make no mistake.
Senator-in-the-pocket Pine was a perfect parody of those legislators for hire whose strings are jerked by private industry.
It's kinda hard to believe people still don't SEE it.
This movie was trying to make a REAL point, make no mistake.
The British Spinmeister-cum-assassin in this movie gave us a glimpse of how attention is "redirected" when people who do speak out are silenced and sleight of hand to "redirect" attention has been elevated to an art.
Found Gibson to be very believable, his acting was superb, no pandering to the camera for a "good side" as so many older actors do.I think I enjoyed this as much or more than that other conspiracy movie he starred in with Julia Roberts..hmm..let's see..it was called,,oh yes.."Conspiracy Theory"..

Well said. I, too, agree whole heartedly with you. This movie really is excellent and makes some very important points. It's also nice to see a clean and honest movie for a change. Mel's a good guy.
Many conspiracies are now fact. Most just await proof to be fact. Read 'Operation Northwood', USS Liberty incident, Bush's New World Order, Bilderbergers, Common Purpose etc etc etc
Me? I'll carry on treating those who desire to control and manipulate us with a huge dose of scepticism. As Billy Connolly once said 'Anyone who wants to be a politician should never be trusted'. Business control politicians who control us (well they try!).

It's good to see Mel Gibson acting again.. Edge of Darkness is a tense Thriller with a touch of Drama added to it.. Mel Gibson and Ray Winstone both did fantastic jobs..

I figured out within 20 mins, that Mel's character was gonna die on a mission to take out as many people as possible that were involved with his daughter's death..
