The storyline was very promising but the unnecessary narration in the movie spoiled the thriller element, plus it lacked the basic elements like scary music, and the events folded very rapidly in the start, nonetheless the idea was great. 3/5

As the title suggests this movie belongs to Shyamalans project and all is missing is Kylies Better The Devil You Know playing in the opening scene :0 Seriously, what we have is a simple production that stands up and delivers; its almost indie like, character centric with a thinly veiled plot running for 80 suspenseful minutes. The occasional devil references are not overdone either. Overall I think Devil makes a welcome change from the exorcisim franchise fashioned by Horrorwood over the past few years. Enjoy this 7.9/10 with chocolate truffles.

I think the movie is great. It didn't went through a lot of filler scenes until the elevator scene. It directly (well, not really) went to the elevator scene where everything happened.
Have a lesson as well.
Actually, I had no idea who the devil in the elevator was until he/she revealed himself/herself. Got me puzzled right until it was revealed.

Five people trapped in an elevator was never going to be an all action movie but it had the potential to be a good psychological thriller a lá Hitchcock.
It's Shyamalan, I should have known better. We're pretty sure who the devil is from the moment the doors close, so much for suspense. The rest is stereotyping on a grand scale with no empathy for the protagonists.
It's watchable, but only in a scab picking way.

I agree. Right away the things put in there I could tell you there to try and trick the audience from figuring out. But they were so obvious, if one just pays attention they can figure out who it is. I wasn't sucked into the film at all.

I really liked this one. I've been a long time fan of M. Night Shyamalan's movies. I was somewhat disappointed with The Happening. I feel that he has redeemed himself with Devil. For those of you that thought that it wasn't "exciting" enough for you. M. Night's movies are more psychological. He is a brilliant storyteller and doesn't have to rely on flashy special effects and loads of gore in order to produce a great story. I think a lot of what makes his stories so great is that we can somewhat apply or compared them to realistic situations in our own lives.

I knew this was just a hype-driven flopper the minute I saw the trailer but I just had to see it to find out whether it was possible to situate a movie in a lift and give it enough substance to hold it together.
Sadly my original prediction was correct.
This film is utter rubbish!
It's not scary at all.
What is scary is the thought of all those innocent sheep trotting to the cinemas and squandering their hard-earned cash to see this junk!
Not only have they wasted money, they have wasted a part of their lives and they will never get that time back.
It's truly tragic.
For me this one gets a big fat ZERO!
(But I'm giving a 1 star rating on here to earn a point. . .I think I deserve it.)

The Last Airbender was no Gone With The Wind either.
But that would be an unfair comparison.
You can't compare films that are in absolutely irrelevant genres unless of course you are saying it wasn't as entertaining as the last movie you watched which, I assume was The Last Airbender.
Then I would say "fair enough"
