Baaria is Sicilian slang for Bagheria where Tornatore was born and this is an autobiographic epic of three generations in the Sicilian village where he was born.
I had intended to respond to a gentleman who questioned my view of this movie. Instead, a miss-key removed the string. None-the-less, I shall say that I found this movie as interesting as paint drying, grass growing or time passing. I am interested in a "Slice of Life," as long as it is greater than my own.
Wonderful film full of details entangled with local and national history. Don't miss watching 'Cinema Paradiso' another of Tornatore's biographical tinted film.
