please!!as i disagree will almost most movie remakes, i had to enjoy the way Brand kept a certian feel towards the original aspect af the film, thus bringing this classic to a modern audience..ps more is spelt Moore
Yes Hollywood has made a lot of re-makes this year.
Brand for me is just one of the modern stand up artists that makes me skin crawl, hence the reason why I did not like this film.
I liked Helen Mirren but other than that it was only ok. I think it is one aimed more at younger people, allot of the jokes were pretty childish. 6.5/10
Not bad romantic comedy, cast is good, but I must say I don't like Rusell Brand, also his acting. I like the part at the end when he tells the story to the children.
I will give 7.5/10.
I can't compare since I didn't see the origonal but I reaally liked this one good humor even for younger audiences if need be. Great messages acting wise I feel Russell was a good choice I feel he of all people can really preformthis character.

All in all good film I would probably see it again it wasn't a let down for me at all.
I watched this only because I like Russell Brand and I was less than impressed. Very few laugh out loud moments when I expected a lot of humor. Well acted but just not my cup of tea. 2/5
Ok, saw it! I'm glad I did! No one will ever replace Dudley but this guy is good, he captures the spirit of Arthur and I think even Dudley would be proud! The lady who plays Hobson was amazingly good as well! What a great idea to have Hobson portrayed as female!! I figured they would be more politically correct in this version and play down the alcohol but they really didn't which I'm glad of. I am not a fan of remakes but really I have to say this is the best remake I've seen come out of hollywood in years!
Just a warning, as of 4/23, seems all the online versions are from the same original and they all are missing the last 6 minutes. Quality also starts out really bad but improves to a watchable level.
The dilemma of remakes is do you stick to the original character or do you recreate it and hope that it works. So I decided to look at the trailer (by the way a great feature here). The lead actor was not someone I would have chosen for the remake. This might turn out to be a good move but why change so much and keep the title other than to hook people like me hoping to see more Dudley Moore. There aren't many actors that can play drunk in a comical way and pull it off.
It's more like the original then you might think. Give it a chance. I think you'll like it. The actor actually pulls off the Arthur character quite well.
Wow, I had to look thinking "no way this is related to Arthur and Arthur 2 on the rocks", but it is!! yay! I'm watching it idc..lol.. I hope it's half as good as Arthur was n I'd be happy. :P.
Hate to say it but it does look decent, dammit! I am a forever Dudley fan and did not want to see this remade but I read what lastrequest wrote and checked out the trailer. It does seem they've kept the flavor of the original. I will probably give it a chance. The original holds good memories for me, it's the only movie I remember my mom, my older sister and myself all loving! That in itself was quite a feat!
Yeah..I agree with you..his character is still childish but he doesnt go around getting drunk all day..i cant wait to watch this movie..looks like it will be worth the watch
Ok I Admit I Saw The Name And Who Was In It And Groaned
but after having watched the trailer ..emm I think this actually looks pretty good
for one im sure they have played down or removed his alcoholism from the story
and Arthur actually looks a kinda nice cool guy if a lil pampered and I love helen mirrens role
think this actually might be worth watching..never thought id have said that before the trailer
