The special effects are awesome, and the storyline was great until mediocre ending, which would have been great. A must watch before the Mayan's prediction comes true and hopefully we will be clever enough to be in Tibet China this time lol,. 4/5
there was 1818 the oh great 1900 the 1950 the oh bad 93 and 2000 now we get 2012, the next will be that the world will end in 2018. seriously this movie is something i suggest you skip watching
ain't it funny how the very ppl they tried to leave behind ended up saving their hides? it just goes to show u that the same ppl u meet on the way up, u'll meet again on ur way down
The one thing that makes this film stand out if the CGI, speical effects etc. AMAZING!! seriously one shot after the story gets going where the camera pans through half a building, i wish had been longer just so i had more time to take all the little details they included for that.
Everything else was really good, few scenes made me shed a tear or two but feel like 20 mins could have been cut out somewhere in the middle, otherwise, great movie
very over the top but if you can cope with that its worth a watch

**The most annoying thing about the film for me is the true fact that you know if there really was an end of the world senario it would be the likes of the Royal family, the Saudis etc etc that would get saved while people like you and me are acceptable losses and i bet just like in that film we wouldnt be told until it was just about to happen
its a scifi film?? no way, really?!?! .. just because i said its 'over the top' doesnt mean i dont like it ..whats at the end of that line 'ITS WORTH A WATCH'
I gave it a 7/10 which is a highish/good rating and ive watched it a couple of times now so im not even sure where you get the idea from i didnt like it
If your stupid keyboard bashing was at the other bit then your a bigger fool than your typing makes you look like if you think that in a disater you would be saved before some royal or super rich person

great movie, VERY unrealistic as far as how much Cusack and the gang survived, but it did make for some great action scenes. will make u wanna cry a few times. btw it takes 15 mins to get to the actual movie, i mean the first part is all science setting up the story which is why it took me 3 times to finally watch this movie. It keeps getting better and better as it goes on. Im a Cusack fan which made it all the better and every time I watch a movie with Amanda Peet im convinced shes the hottest chick ever.. yum
interesting how pro Rastafari this movie is. the little girl had a rasta hat on in the beggining, red yellow green stripped beenie. Woody was screamin about Rastafari on that mountain. and in the end

Africa actually rose up above the water and was the last place left and they said it never even got hit by the tsunami
once in a while hollywood gets it right. this movie hooked me, drew me in and took me along for the ride.

never mind that you knew they werent going to die near the beginning when they were racing towards the mountain man and then china. (they were the mains) it was done well. i also think in light of cusack character's book, he probably should have died in the end but no matter its all good
i loved the philosophical debates, the phone calls that tugged your heart strings,

the people who were rescued, the people who werent. all in all a great entertaining movie. 5/5 now onto something else. the bible was rarely mentioned in this film. once or twice and that is it. and it wasnt even a main plot point. i am also a believer and i am happy that it did not. filmmakers did not sell this as a wrath of God type of movie. for anyone to bring it up means they have a personal agenda. (looking at the movie through the bible's eyes and not the director's) the end of the world has been debated about for years and not only in the bible. however, since the bible is THE most famous book, its version gets all the coverage. again, the movie does not convey a religious message at all. for those who did not like it for one reason or another, if you had just let yourself go you would have had a ball of a viewing experience. again 5/5
This film was entertaining albeit cliche and predictable, entertaining none the less. I mean who doesn't enjoy watching the White House get smashed by a Navy Sea vessel? That's entertainment!
But frankly, The Day After Tomorrow was better, The Core was better and Armageddon was better!!
What incredible crap. And in 2013 the date will be moved again to 2014 and moved again to 2015 and moved again to 2016 and so on and so on and so on..and you will buy into it. Crap.
Why is it that, every disatrous movie like this one and Deep Impact and Armaggedon and sh*t like, "the world is coming to an end", the president is a black man? And this 2012 .. this mean something? And all this Hitler .. on t.v? hmm.. watch out they're planing another holocaust modern day style the schools will be the concentration camps!! start planning!!
Hmm..something to think about. The remake of "When Worlds Collide"(another "end of the world" flick) is in the works and is said to be released sometime in 2012. Coincidental year?? And I also won't be surprised if the U.S. president (in the film) is again a black man.. So you just may be on to something there..
