An earthquake reaching a 10.5 magnitude on the Richter scale, strikes the west coast of the U.S. and Canada. A large portion of land falls into the ocean, and the situation is worsened by aftershocks and tsunami.
Interesting story line and action. This is about "the big one" that we pray will not happen. Every building-planner should see this. Many of the effects seemed quite real. For me it rates at least 8 out of 10.
This movie was poorly made and had a budget that some company execs couldn't function on. However it's worth a one-time run through at least. Funny thing is, and this is NOT a spoiler as one would expect to see sky-scrapers collapsing in a movie about earth quakes.. all the buildings that fell seemed to topple over to one side as you would expect anything so tall to do. I looked and looked, yet not anywhere did I see one single building collapse into it's own footprint, or fall neatly into pieces manageable by flatbed trucks. I also didn't see any buildings collapse at a speed greater then that of free-fall velocity. It doesn't make sense, I was under the impression that when modern sky-scrapers collapse that they fell into neat piles.. could it be that someone on the 911 commission has been lying to us? Nah!
this is a great movie it reminds us that indeed we are only the true masters of our own self on any event and that a natural disaster bring you to your knees this get the highest of ratings 10.5 must see for all who wonder about earthquakes what causes them and the things we can do to help keep loss of life to minimum.
